JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an employee in the Operations and Management department, you will perform all relevant tasks throughout the year with a focus on the operation and maintenance of public environments in urban and suburban areas.

We are currently seeking employees for our operational units. The tasks may vary from maintenance, manual cleaning, certain construction work, snow and ice control, to lawn mowing, watering, weeding, pruning, clearing, and working in urban-adjacent forests. The department also performs tasks at sports fields, recreational areas, swimming spots, and nature areas.

The majority of the work is done in collaboration with other units within the Operations and Management department. The tasks vary throughout the year. We use several larger and smaller machines, tractors, and vehicles with larger trailers. Daily maintenance of these is included.

We work in teams but also independently during periods. You are responsible, together with your colleagues, for ensuring that assigned tasks are performed correctly and safely. The work requires good teamwork skills, a service-oriented attitude, responsibility, and good physical condition.

The work teams operate from storage facilities in different neighborhoods in Växjö city and perform work in central Växjö, the municipality's other urban areas, and nature areas. The positions are full-time, and working hours may be scheduled during the day, evening, and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a high school education in municipal technology street/park, green space management, or forestry, or equivalent education as assessed by the employer. You should have worked with corresponding tasks within either the green sector or streets/construction. It is a requirement that you are familiar with and skilled in the machines and vehicles used in the operations. We require a B driver's license for manual transmission, but we would also like you to have a BE license or a C driver's license (and YKB). It is an advantage if you have certification for brush cutters and chainsaws, chainsaw in a basket, and lift training. You must be proficient in the Swedish language in both spoken and written form and be a regular user of digital tools such as computers and smartphones, as this is part of your daily work.

You are used to and enjoy working both in a group and independently. It is expected that you have a self-driven approach to work and actively contribute to its planning and execution. You demonstrate responsibility and attention to detail in your tasks. You have an understanding of the whole and our common mission. To effectively accomplish our tasks, we require high collaboration skills, both within the units and within the department. We expect you to respond positively and constructively to changes in work and to be flexible and adaptable.

Our Operations and Management department provides service operations, which requires you to have a sense of and willingness to provide service. It is important to have an understanding of diversity and social contacts. You feel comfortable with what we represent and have the ability to meet both colleagues and municipal residents with respect and understanding. The work primarily takes place outdoors and in all weather conditions. Therefore, we want you to enjoy working outdoors and not be afraid to roll up your sleeves when needed. The work is physically demanding.
