Norrbotten Air Force Wing, F 21, is Sweden's northernmost air wing. The main base is in Luleå, with secondary bases in Jokkmokk and Vidsel. F 21's mission is to deliver air operational effect through the combat aircraft divisions and JAS39. F 21 has one of the world's largest air exercise areas used by both Swedish Air Force units and units from other countries.

Field Maintenance Platoon

The Field Maintenance Platoon is part of the R3 Company, which is a part of Norrbotten Air Force Wing, F 21. The company is responsible for the operation of three airports, one of which is operational 24/7, all year round.

The airport field maintenance at Kallax Airport is a very important part of the airport operations and ensures availability and flight safety for both civilian and military aviation.

The main task of the platoon is to conduct field maintenance services such as snow removal, ice control, and wildlife deterrence. Other tasks include repairing damage to runways or other surfaces, fieldwork, and clearing unexploded ordnance.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with good social skills and flexibility, who is careful and responsible as the position often involves working independently and in smaller units. Regardless of background, it is important that you are a team player, and good collaboration with both superiors and subordinates is a given. Being proactive, resourceful, and able to work under pressure is essential for the unit to function.

The material master must be able to operate a large number of different special vehicles/machines to solve their tasks, so an interest in vehicles is an advantage for the position.

Your employment will begin with basic training for the position, and after that, you will continue to develop through training where you can choose to deepen your knowledge in the platoon's many areas of competence.

Main Responsibilities

The main task of the material master is to create conditions for the platoon to operate through planning corrective and preventive maintenance on the platoon's vehicles and equipment.

You will also support field maintenance services with snow removal as needed. The position includes training for field maintenance leaders, including one year of practical training in shift work.

• Supports training within material and vehicle services
• Operational role in managing sudden failures and arising material/vehicle issues during ongoing airport operations
• Contact and follow-up with military and civilian workshops and maintenance sites
• Ordering materials, repairs, and other needs
• Material and vehicle management

Requirements

Qualifications

• Approved officer/specialist officer education (OR6)
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language
• Good computer skills
• Driving license B
• Wheel loader according to TYA/BYN or military driver's license

Employment form: Permanent, the Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not employed by the authority.

Military position

Travel within the service occurs, follow-up tests for FM FysS are conducted annually.
