Job Responsibilities

The mission of the Construction Project Unit is to renovate and build new facilities to meet the needs of the City of Malmö for preschools, schools, cultural facilities, recreational facilities, and housing. We renovate and build new facilities on behalf of our local user administrations. The Construction Project Unit is tasked with managing construction projects, and we are involved from the idea stage all the way to handing over the finished building to the local user and property management. The Construction Project Unit is now seeking an additional Cost Engineer.

In the role of Cost Engineer, you will collaborate with the construction project managers to perform cost calculations for new construction and renovations, life cycle analyses, and climate calculations using the calculation tool BidCon. The position primarily focuses on calculations for renovation projects, but the distribution of work can be adjusted among the cost engineers as needed.

As a Cost Engineer, you will also participate in strategic work with the management team of the Construction Project Unit regarding project economics. The role also includes supporting project managers and construction project managers by developing calculations and comparative analyses at an early stage, based on key figures and post-calculations to enable learning for future projects. In addition, you are expected to actively work with market monitoring, follow-up on financial targets, and conduct analyses and maintain statistics to further develop knowledge within the organization. The position may also involve support to other units within City Properties, such as assisting the management unit with budget work for maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with at least a bachelor's degree (180 credits) in construction, property management, or equivalent, or substantial work experience in qualified cost calculation work that can be deemed equivalent. You need to have at least 5 years of work experience in qualified cost calculation work within new construction, renovation, and extensions.

It is advantageous if you have experience with procurement according to the Public Procurement Act, experience with the calculation tool Bidcon, which also includes climate calculations. Furthermore, it is beneficial if you have experience from other roles within the construction industry, such as site manager, project manager, project/contract engineer, or planner.

To be considered for the position, you should have work experience in cost calculations at early stages. Excellent knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is a requirement for the position.

As a person, you have a good ability to create structure and plan your work according to specified timelines. You ensure that you have access to the resources you need for your work.
