Ward 348B/KAVA at Östra Hospital is a surgical emergency care ward where patients come from the emergency department.

The majority of patients are treated for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. The patient flow is high, with an average length of stay of just under three days, providing a varied and challenging everyday life.

We work person-centered in teams with nurses, nursing assistants, and doctors. The work involves investigation and assessment of acutely ill patients, where some are treated to completion with us while others are referred to specialist departments. This provides an opportunity to gain broad competence in various surgical diagnoses.

What do the job tasks look like?

You will work nights with common tasks for nurses, which means varied and stimulating shifts - where you make a difference! In short, the work involves regular assessments of vital parameters and abdominal status, admitting patients from the emergency department, preparing patients for examinations and surgeries, as well as medication management and sampling. You will have a leading role in the work around the patient and coordinate for acute surgeries, examinations, and care.

Who are we looking for?

Since the position involves night work, we are looking for someone with some experience as a licensed nurse. Knowledge and/or experience in emergency care and surgical care is an advantage for the position.

To succeed in the role, you enjoy handling a varied workload and are skilled at reprioritizing and meeting each patient based on their specific needs. Your ability to delegate and collaborate is very important for the position. You take a leading role when the situation requires it and are good at communicating in meetings with patients and relatives.
