Job Advertisement: Teacher at SiS Youth Home Bergsmansgården
The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for children, youth, and adults with substance abuse. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. With us, your work life becomes a meaningful and exciting challenge. No matter where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.
SiS Youth Home Bergsmansgården will expand in 2025 and is now in the process of opening a new satellite unit for non-compulsory school girls at Granhult near Ramsberg in Lindesberg Municipality. The Granhult unit plans to open a locked and an open department with a total capacity for eleven girls.
Job Description
Do you want to be part of starting and building a new smaller school unit? SiS is now launching a completely new satellite operation to SiS Youth Home Bergsmansgården in Granhult in Lindesberg Municipality and is therefore looking for driven and committed teachers. We need several different subject combinations; we are looking for teachers in theoretical, aesthetic, and practical subjects, and the design and scope of the position can therefore be discussed and tailored based on the applicant's current qualifications and preferences regarding working hours.
The school operations within SiS follow the same regulations as the rest of the school system. The school is responsible for the education of all enrolled youths. The youths residing at the youth home should receive the education they need and are entitled to. The placed youths are girls aged 16-20 years. Almost all teaching takes place within the framework of the introduction program; individual alternative, but there may also be compulsory students as well as students within the framework of adapted school. All students have an individual study plan where they, together with a mentor and study and career counselor, set goals and study compulsory and/or common subjects based on their needs. Teaching is conducted full-time in smaller teaching groups.
A positive attitude and belief in each individual's potential for development are important. The students have varying experiences and results from previous schooling, which means that teaching needs to be based on good pedagogical relationships, be motivational, and be conducted based on the knowledge assignment. You plan, implement, follow up, and document the teaching and are well anchored in all parts of the curricula and grading. Mentorship is included in the position.
You work in a team with health and medical staff as well as treatment staff. You also have contact with home schools, social services, and, as far as possible, the students' parents. The institution has several complementary competencies, and as a teacher, you are part of a cross-professional and collaborative effort regarding the youths. Collaboration with, for example, nurses, treatment pedagogues, and psychologists is therefore an important part of your duties. Many of us work together with care and have a holistic perspective regarding the youths.
As a new employee, we create a solid introduction program focusing on safety and the ethical aspects of the work to provide the right conditions for success in your role with us. There are also good opportunities for professional growth and development in your work.
Qualifications

Meritorious:
- a broad subject competence in several subjects.
- documented special pedagogical knowledge; insight into different diagnoses, experience working with youths in need of special support and institutional care.
- previous work within introduction programs or work in special teaching groups.
- proficiency in multiple languages.
You need to be motivated to teach and build trusting pedagogical relationships in smaller teaching groups consisting of students with psychosocial issues and criminal backgrounds. It is important that you can identify and meet the student's needs with high realistic expectations and motivate and lead the student towards their goals. We prefer that you are unpretentious, flexible, can set and maintain boundaries respectfully, and have faith that all students can find a path to education and work.
You are secure, stable, and calm, even in stressful situations. You have good collaboration skills, high social competence, and a positive view of students. You also understand the importance of adapting to changing circumstances and see the benefits of changes.
You are proactive and participate in development work to achieve the school's goals and always take responsibility for your tasks by planning, organizing, and prioritizing work effectively.
