The Urban Environment Administration has a comprehensive responsibility for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility. We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 900 people work in the administration.

The Urban Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to become sustainable from all perspectives.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Do you want to contribute to the development of young people while creating attractive, safe, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas? Then we have a seasonal job for you!

Supervision of young people (grades 8 - high school) for about 10 weeks over the summer in various types of practical work such as waste management, participation in various activities in the city's parks, weeding, and simpler outdoor tasks. The role of the supervisor involves guiding the young people in practical assignments, teaching simple work methods, and providing necessary work materials such as tools and equipment. The purpose of the work is to help create more job opportunities for studying youth in Gothenburg. The assignment also contributes to a safe and attractive city.

The assignment also includes planning and executing the practical tasks together with the young people and coordinating and collaborating with regular staff. As a supervisor, you will also handle simpler administrative tasks such as attendance reporting and writing certificates for the young people.

We look forward to a fantastic summer, and you will be an important piece of the puzzle in our work to welcome 400 young people. As a supervisor, you will be responsible for one group of young people at a time, spread over 3 periods. As a supervisor, you will work together with about 20 colleagues and welcome young people from all over the city. Our workplace is the city's parks, green areas, and bathing places. You are responsible for your work team but will work closely with your colleagues. The summer begins with a thorough introduction to prepare you for the role of supervisor. After that, we have weekly check-ins to follow up on our operations. Our goal is for each young person to have the opportunity to develop and prepare for future career choices.

The assignment runs from June 11 to August 20 without vacation leave.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A driving license for manual cars (this is a requirement; you cannot get the job if you do not have it)
  • High school education, ongoing post-secondary education is an advantage.
  • Experience in leading others or having been a group leader, coach, project leader, or other occasions where you have led groups of young people for at least two months or one season.
  • Good ability to lead groups.

You should be proficient in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written. It is an advantage if you have experience in gardening and working with young people with disabilities. It is also an advantage if you can swim 200 meters.

We are looking for someone with a passionate interest in working with young people. It is important that you are comfortable in a leadership role and can meet the needs of young people and understand that each individual needs to be met at their level. You enjoy organizing and coordinating tasks and have a pedagogical approach. It is important that you have a good ability to learn new tasks and that you are very flexible in your work. We are looking for someone who is unpretentious and enjoys working independently.

For the next two years, our workplace at Köpmansgatan 20 will be renovated, where all urban development administrations will gather. The new premises are expected to be completed in 2026. During the renovation period, we will have workplaces at Postgatan and Lillhagsparken according to a rotating schedule. This means a few months at Postgatan and a few months at Lillhagsparken and applies to most of the administration's services.
