The Social Administration Nordost works to provide residents in northeastern Gothenburg with equitable and effective welfare, enabling them to live safe and independent lives. The administration supports individuals and families according to the Social Services Act. We also offer activities and meeting places that can provide children and young people with a meaningful leisure time. Additionally, the administration actively works with crisis support, safety issues, community life, public health, and contacts with residents and civil society.
Welcome to a vibrant administration in a dynamic urban area - here we work for community and openness with a focus on those we are here for!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Unit for Collaboration and Early Interventions is seeking a preventive parent supporter primarily focused on parents with children aged 6-12 years. The unit consists of a unit manager and thirteen employees who work in various ways with parent-supporting interventions within a family-centered approach.
Currently, two parent supporters work with the same focus, and with an additional position, a team of three will be formed. Together with the team and the rest of the unit, there is ample opportunity to influence the role and drive development issues. The current position is aimed at the eastern part of Nordost while the two existing parent supporters (6-12 years) primarily focus on Angered. You will be part of a team of three people, and the position is directed towards the eastern part of Nordost.
The unit is expanding its work in accordance with the new Social Services Act, which emphasizes that social services should develop new working methods and approaches to work more proactively and preventively. In the unit, we only work with interventions without means testing.
The work involves having advisory/supportive conversations with parents and other important adults with school-aged children, guiding families to other services, and facilitating parent groups (for example, ABC). You will work proactively and in close collaboration with, among others, primary schools, civil society, and other actors in the local area. You will also have some connection to the family centers in Nordost, where several of the parent supporters in the unit work. The four family centers in Nordost target the age group 0-12 years. For parents with children aged 0-6 years, the family centers are a natural arena for parent support, but when children start school, the connection is not as obvious. Therefore, active work directed towards schools and other arenas needs to be strengthened to better reach the target group of 6-12 years.
The Social Administration has an established collaboration with schools in Nordost aimed at children and young people. The administration now needs to strengthen its work in offering early interventions to parents and other important adults around the children. The advantage of intervening already in the early and middle school years is that parental responsibility is still more evident, and the conditions for actively working with parents can be greater. By meeting parents based on their own needs and supporting them in strengthening the relationship between children and important adults, you can contribute to improving the upbringing conditions for the children.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who is a social worker or has another equivalent university degree that the employer deems relevant. You should have experience and competence in working with parenting support for parents with children of varying ages, as well as knowledge of the social services' work with children and families. You should have a systemic perspective on children, families, and other networks. You should be comfortable having individual conversations and/or couple discussions and also feel secure in facilitating parent groups. Many actors can be involved in the work with parents and families, and we therefore place great importance on your ability to collaborate both internally and externally.
If you have good knowledge of the Nordost urban area or other areas with socioeconomic challenges, it is an advantage.
Furthermore, you have a good demeanor and show respect for those you meet at work. You are inviting and positive and work to ensure that the client/user receives what they need. You are flexible and collaborative and work well with others by listening, showing interest and respect, understanding the common mission, and working to make it as good as possible. You are positive, find solutions, and want to help. You understand what those we are here for need and ensure they are satisfied.
This advertisement is directed at you who are interested in working with parenting support and developing new methods to reach more families in Nordost.
The working hours are primarily during the day, but some afternoon and evening work will also be relevant.
Does this sound like something for you? We warmly welcome your application!
