The Traffic Office is responsible for maintaining and developing Stockholm's public spaces to ensure they are safe, attractive, accessible, and sustainable. The mission includes everything from taking care of the existing urban environment to implementing strategic investment projects and planning for tomorrow's growing metropolis. To accomplish our mission, we are about 450 colleagues, mainly located in the newly renovated premises of the Technical Committee House on Kungsholmen. Together, we ensure that Stockholm continues to be a leading city with sustainable transport solutions and vibrant environments, both today and in the future.
Are you currently working as an electrical designer, electrical engineer, or lighting engineer, and do you have experience in laying cables underground, lighting, or traffic signals?
Do you want to be an important part of Stockholm's infrastructure projects and develop the city's transport system? Welcome to apply today!
Welcome to us
The Infrastructure Department consists of six units with a total of about 85 employees.
The department has a broad operational area. In addition to carrying out the Traffic Office's major investment projects, the department is responsible for ensuring that bridges, tunnels, traffic signals, and public lighting retain their functions and are developed to meet the needs of the growing city through maintenance and reinvestments.
The position of Electrical Project Engineer is located in the Traffic Technology unit, where 15 employees are responsible for the management, operation, and maintenance as well as new construction and renovation of traffic signals and other IoT devices in the street space, such as cameras, sensors, traffic data stations, and digital signs. Within the unit, there is expertise in project management, procurement, electrical design, and programming of technical equipment with associated control and monitoring systems.
The unit is also responsible for monitoring developments in the technology areas managed by the unit and participates in development projects to contribute to the development of future traffic solutions.
We offer
In addition to exciting tasks, skilled colleagues, and a good working environment, you will be offered good employment benefits such as wellness compensation and the opportunity to participate in wellness activities. You will also have the opportunity for development through participation in large projects, such as Hagastaden, Slussen, and the light rail projects. Your role
As an electrical project engineer with us, you will join a unit where everyone takes the time to help each other and has fun together. We now need reinforcement and are looking for you who want to work with the design of renovation and new construction of traffic signals and other traffic technical systems. You will work independently with the design in a CAD environment using the programs DpCom, Microstation, and Autocad.
You will also be a project member in large projects, often involving coordination work. You will collaborate with project managers in the unit and with traffic signal planners within the department, especially in the planning stage. You will have several projects running simultaneously, some of which may last for several years. Others are shorter processes, but both are characterized by occasionally intense periods. This requires self-organization and a goal-oriented approach with a desire to achieve results. Much of the work takes place on-site at the Traffic Office, but sometimes you will be expected to drive to facilities and project offices in the city.
Your skills and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- an electrical education that we find relevant for the position, which can be a high school education or a KY education with a focus on electricity
- current experience as a designer/engineer in electricity and/or cable laying underground, such as lighting or traffic signals
- worked with AMA electrical/construction for quantity and technical descriptions
- worked in a CAD environment and has good IT skills
- a B driver's license
It is advantageous if you also have:
- experience in electrical design for traffic signals and practical experience from relevant assignments in the field
As a person, you need to be self-sufficient, used to managing your own time and driving your work forward. Familiar with having multiple matters ongoing simultaneously, you work in a structured and goal-oriented manner with a desire to achieve results. You have an easy time understanding details but always have the ability to see the long-term significance of things. In working with people and technology, unexpected situations always arise, and therefore good collaboration skills, great patience, flexibility, and a focus on solutions are needed.
