Gislaveds municipality is looking for an engaged and competent environmental engineer who wants to contribute to the municipality's work for a long-term sustainable and safe environmental management. We offer a varied and developing role where you will work with strategic, technical, and operational issues within the environmental field.
Placement: The position is placed within the Community Development Administration, in the planning department of the action planning unit. Here we work to develop and plan strategies for the municipality's long-term community planning and sustainable infrastructure.
About the role: As an environmental engineer, you will be part of our team and work closely with project managers, water engineers, and other specialists. You will play a central role in the development of the municipality's environmental work and contribute with technical expertise, planning, and follow-up. Your work will include both daily operations and long-term development projects.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement liming efforts, including procurement, distribution control, and water sampling.
- Be responsible for applications, reports, and financial management related to liming activities.
- Ensure that the municipality complies with regulatory requirements for closed landfills through monitoring programs, sampling, and environmental reporting.
- Map, assess risks, and manage contaminated areas.
- Drive projects related to remediation, restoration, and fishery management.
- Analyze and minimize environmental impact in the municipality's projects and processes.
- Develop and implement sustainability strategies, environmental assessments, and risk analyses.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive environmental improvements.
- Contribute to education and information dissemination on environmental and sustainability issues.
- Perform other tasks as needed that fall within the scope of the employment's purpose and the organization's needs.
Qualifications
- At least three years of higher education with a focus on environmental and health protection, environmental science, or other relevant education.
- Several years of experience in environmental work, preferably in the public sector.
- Good knowledge of environmental legislation, environmental standards, and sustainability work.
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with data, reporting, and environmental assessments.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Good communication skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly and pedagogically.
- Swedish language proficiency in both spoken and written form.
- Driver's license (B).
