Job Advertisement: Librarian

Increased learning - equity - meeting places; three important core values that permeate all work in the schools of Nässjö municipality, a medium-sized municipality with about 30,000 inhabitants in the Småland highlands. To realize this, the municipal council has adopted a strategic and long-term development plan for preschool and school in Nässjö municipality. Within the Department of Children and Education, we consciously and purposefully work to provide every child and student with the tools needed to seek knowledge in life. The goal is for every child and student to develop according to their abilities and feel joy and pride in their successes.

You will be employed by the principals of Rosenholm School, Äng School, and Anneberg School. Rosenholm School is a K-9 school located in Forserum, Äng School is a K-3 school located in the small community of Äng between Forserum and Nässjö. In Anneberg, you will find Anneberg School, which is a K-6 school. Currently, there are about 420 students in Forserum and Äng, and about 200 students in Anneberg. All three schools have associated after-school departments. Since the government has tasked the National Agency for Education to implement measures to strengthen the after-school program's work with reading and to improve students' knowledge of the Swedish language, a development area will be to integrate reading into the after-school programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The main task will be to attract reading in various ways and conduct reading promotion work for the target group at the school.

You will, for example:

• Plan the educational activities at the school together with the principal and educators
• Staff the school library
• Expand collaboration with citizen offices
• Read aloud and facilitate book discussions
• Organize reading groups
• Plan activities around reading breaks, reading days, theme days
• Provide book recommendations
• Network with other school libraries
• Purchase literature.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science or educational training with reading promotion competencies. You have experience working with children and youth and possess a strong ability to engage and inspire them. To succeed in this role, we see that you are proactive and take the initiative to develop and implement reading promotion projects and activities.

You are self-sufficient and accustomed to working independently, responsible for driving the library's operations forward. Furthermore, you are relationship-building and create good relationships with both students and colleagues while being able to collaborate and engage others easily.

As a strategic person, you have the ability to think long-term and ensure that the library's work is integrated with the school's overall goals for student development. Additionally, it is important that you have good digital skills and an interest in using new media and technologies to support students' reading development.
