We are looking for nurses for night shifts in inpatient care on wards 91 and 96. At our facility, the night is characterized by close collaboration, stable staffing, and a proactive focus on safety. Night work involves great variation – you will encounter patients with different backgrounds and diagnoses, handling both acute situations and long-term care processes.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you have a central and varied role involving both psychiatric and somatic care, where your medical knowledge is used for symptom interpretation, risk assessment, and medication treatment. To the extent time and opportunity allow, you will participate in nursing care, while the nurse's areas of responsibility always have the highest priority.

With all psychiatric services under one roof, we foster close collaboration and provide good opportunities for support even during night shifts. Every night, 13 care assistants and 4 nurses work within the inpatient care unit, ensuring stable staffing and a strong collegial atmosphere. The operation has a clear focus on safety and continuous improvement. Joint night meetings contribute to shared understanding and experience exchange. To enable competence development for everyone, training is sometimes scheduled in the evenings so that night staff can also participate.

What is the best thing about working nights?

"You get a completely different closeness to the patients at night. The pace becomes calmer and there is more time to truly see each individual. The night team also becomes very tight-knit – we help each other and trust each other in a way that is hard to describe." – Eva

About the Workplace

The psychiatric inpatient care (HDV) is a unit that is constantly moving forward. We actively work on improvement based on the unit's needs. We feel that we make a difference for our patients and have the privilege of getting to know them. The work climate is open and accepting; we are allowed to be ourselves and we help each other. We have good cohesion among staff groups, both within our own work group and within inpatient care as a whole.

  • Ward 91
Ward 91 is a general psychiatric emergency ward with a focus on addiction, where the emphasis is on withdrawal treatment for patients with comorbidities within psychiatry and addiction. The ward is a county-wide resource for patients with complex issues, such as active substance abuse combined with mental and/or somatic illness. Work is carried out in close collaboration with the Addiction Center Västmanland and the county's outpatient clinics to ensure cohesive and patient-safe care.
  • Ward 96
Ward 96 is an acute psychiatric psychosis ward with 14 care beds. Here, patients with psychotic illnesses in acute stages are primarily treated, but patients with addiction issues and neuropsychiatric diagnoses are also seen. The care aims to stabilize the patient's condition in preparation for continued treatment within psychiatric outpatient care. Patients are often in need of somatic interventions, and the work is based on a holistic perspective with the patient in focus. Care is provided according to both the Health and Medical Services Act (HSL) and the Mental Health Act (LPT).

For us, it is important that you feel well and enjoy your job, which is why we offer you:

  • a tailored introduction program to help you feel confident and secure in your professional role
  • free training at our fully equipped gym
  • health allowance of 3,000 SEK/year

When the situation requires it, you are available and supportive, and you actively contribute to a work environment where everyone feels seen and appreciated. You work in a structured manner, take responsibility for your tasks, and value both clarity and collaboration as important prerequisites for a well-functioning team. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
