Nurse for Acute Care Unit and Urgent Care Clinic in Köping
REGION VÄSTMANLAND 12 days left
to apply for the job
Here, quick decisions are made – but we think long-term. As a nurse at the Acute Care Unit and Urgent Care Clinic in Köping, you are an important part of a secure and cohesive team. You work closely with doctors, follow the patient through the most critical stages of the care chain, and contribute to a business that is growing with the future – and where we mean business when it comes to staying put.
Job Responsibilities
As a nurse with us, you work in a varied role that combines clinical sharpness with human presence. The work takes place both at the Acute Care Unit and the Urgent Care Clinic, providing a dynamic workday with both high tempo and more stable care situations.
- At the Urgent Care Clinic, you meet the patient early in the care process. You triage, sort, assess, take samples, stabilize, and make initial decisions together with doctors.
- At the Acute Care Unit, patients with acute conditions such as heart attack, stroke, sepsis, and intoxications are treated. This is more of a ward-like work with a high level of monitoring and advanced medical technology such as CPAP, OptiFlow, and bilevel.
You work in a multiprofessional team where your role is central. Variation in tasks and tempo means you develop both medically and in your professional judgment.
About the Workplace
We are a unit with two clear parts – the Acute Care Unit and the Urgent Care Clinic – but with a common mission: to provide safe and skilled care to the people of Västmanland who need us.
- The Acute Care Unit has 9 care beds (with potential for overcrowding) and is also responsible for LARM assignments within the hospital at night. The average care time is approximately 2–4 days.
- The Urgent Care Clinic is an adult medicine clinic that is open day and evening, every day of the year. Patients of all ages with all kinds of complaints come here - but with a focus on adults. Patients are assessed and referred to the right level of care when needed.
We are small enough for you to see the big picture, but large enough to offer breadth and development. We work closely with other units in the care chain and have a strong culture of collaboration, responsibility, and patient focus.
From the start, you will receive an individualized introduction with supervision and a secure start at one unit at a time. We believe that security is the foundation for development – therefore, you are allowed to grow at your own pace.
Currently, the operations are in an exciting phase where Region Västmanland is investing in new healthcare buildings in Köping. Our unit is an active part of this development – and we welcome you who want to help shape the future of emergency healthcare.
For us, it is important that you feel good and enjoy your job, which is why we offer you:
- an adapted introduction program to make you secure and safe in your professional role
- opportunities for competence development through, for example, internal training
- a workplace for different stages of life, therefore we offer several different working time models, such as three-shift, shift work, and pure weekend work
- free training at our fully equipped gym
- wellness allowance 3000 SEK/year

Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a registered nurse – or close to graduation – with a genuine interest in emergency healthcare. Experience or further education in emergency healthcare, cardiology, or MIMA is meritorious. But the most important thing is that you want to be part of it.
You need to be able to make your own decisions and be secure in your professional role – but also thrive in a team where collaboration and trust are central. You need to be flexible in thought, quick in the situation, and at the same time retain the ability to pause – and meet people in vulnerability with warmth and respect. We work in life's difficult events. It takes more than competence – it takes humanity.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
