Surgical and Urological Department

We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough trials and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!

Our Operations

At the Surgical and Urological Department, we provide patients with advanced surgical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. We value being skilled in both medical care and nursing, which places us among the best in the country in several areas. Did you know that we conduct world-leading research within the department and that we are part of the hospital's three out of five Centres of Excellence?

The Surgical Department consists of three surgical and one urological ward, as well as five clinics providing care to patients in the following medical areas: vascular surgery, colorectal surgery, endocrine surgery, acute surgery, urology, esophagus/stomach surgery, liver/gallbladder/pancreas surgery, and transplant surgery.

As nurses, nursing assistants, and surgeons, we work person-centered in teams together with the patient. Working with us means exciting and developmental situations where you make a difference – while also enjoying a workplace where we invest in supervision and competence development.

In Autumn 2022, we introduced: Academic Leadership in Nursing. This means we are investing in clear leadership for nursing with the aim of ensuring that nursing competence benefits patients and colleagues to the greatest extent. This includes competence regarding research, evidence-based care, and the implementation of research results, which should contribute to excellent nursing care.

Your Role

We are looking for you who want to work as a Specialist Nurse with Section Responsibility (SAS) towards our medical sections. You have advanced knowledge in nursing and specialized competence in one or more diagnostic groups, and you follow knowledge development nationally and internationally. You have a good ability to represent the patient's nursing needs in interdisciplinary forums as the section-responsible nurse collaborates with the section chief on your medical section.

Together with the nursing leader and the research leader in Academic Leadership in Nursing, you are part of the nursing council and work to ensure that nursing on your section is evidence-based. As the section-responsible nurse, you evaluate nursing care, follow quality indicators, and collaborate with patient representatives. The role includes participating as a lecturer internally and externally in the specialist nurse program.

We are currently looking for:
• Section-Responsible Nurse with a focus on the Urology section at Ward 50C

Your Competence

As a person, you are goal- and result-oriented, accustomed to working independently and taking initiative, structured, quality-conscious, problem-solving, you have a good analytical ability, and teamwork skills.

What We Offer

We offer a permanent position at 100% as a Specialist Nurse, with a time-limited appointment for 3 years as Section-Responsible Nurse at 20%.
