Our Operations
The Surgical Ward is an elective care unit focusing on orthopedics, general surgery, and urology. Approximately 40 people work here. We have twelve care beds on the ward with fast patient flow (patients are operated on one day and usually go home the next). We work a 40-hour week. We value a good psychosocial work environment with an open climate and regularly work on improvements in this area. We use the medical record system Cosmic. Staff on the surgical ward work approximately 4 weekends per thirteen-week period.
Teamwork is central on the ward, enabling a holistic view of the patient, individualized measures, and promoting patient safety. The team consists of nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, ward doctors, and operators for the various diagnoses.
Your Role
Standard duties as a nurse on a surgical inpatient ward, pre- and post-operative. Teamwork with nursing assistants and physiotherapists. The goal is that as a nurse, you should be able to influence your own, your colleagues', and the patients' journey through the hospital to be as safe, motivating, and stimulating as possible.

Uppsala County values the qualities that equal gender distribution and diversity bring to the operations and welcomes applicants of all genders and with different birth backgrounds, functionalities, and life experiences.
Uppsala County assigns all permanent staff for war service based on the needs of the total defense. This means no obligations for the individual employee in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.
Before a decision on employment, a check of the suspicion and burden register is conducted for all job seekers who in the sought employment may come to work within psychiatric care, habilitation, care of children and youth, or compulsory care of addicts, areas covered by optional register extracts. This therefore applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the tasks at present are not intended to primarily contain work with the above-mentioned patient groups.
This recruitment is conducted entirely through Uppsala County's own channels, and we decline phone calls from recruitment agencies and advertising sales.
