Our Operations

Ward 85B1 is part of the Neurology department and works with acute stroke care for adult patients. Here, advanced emergency care is combined with close nursing, teamwork, and continuous development.

The ward has 14 care beds distributed across two care teams. In addition, we work with the acute stroke flow using our "Save the Brain" team, where a nurse and a nursing assistant take care of patients who arrive with suspected stroke directly from the emergency department.

As a nurse with us, you will work closely with patients in the acute phase, with monitoring, treatment, and nursing care that can make a significant difference for the patient's recovery and future.

We work in interprofessional teams together with nursing assistants, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dietitians, and administrative staff. The collaboration between different professional groups is an important part of our work and something many appreciate about us.

We also place great emphasis on working environment and development. Therefore, we have daily reflection sessions and continuously work on improving both working methods and the care environment. Furthermore, several development and research projects are ongoing on the ward in collaboration with Uppsala University.

Your Role

As a nurse on stroke ward 85B1, you work with acute stroke care and nursing of adult patients.

You are responsible for the nursing process, administer medication, and lead the daily work together with the team around the patient. The work is varied and involves both acute situations and close patient contact.

You will receive an introduction tailored to your experience and a mentor for support during your first year with us.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with a bachelor's degree.

Experience of stroke care or emergency care is meritorious, but we also welcome those who are new to the profession and wish to develop within neurology and emergency care.

Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is required for the position.

Your Competence

We are looking for you who are responsible, team-oriented, and confident in meetings with patients and colleagues.

You need to be able to prioritize and keep your calm in a job where the pace is sometimes high. At the same time, we believe you appreciate teamwork, development, and working close to the patients.

As a nurse in inpatient care, you also receive an inpatient supplement of 2,000 SEK per month in addition to the base salary. You also receive an adapted introduction with experienced colleagues and opportunities for competence development, including a nationwide stroke competence training with certification.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, the professional introduction "Clinical Development Year" is included as part of your introduction. The education provides in-depth knowledge and a secure start in the professional role. During the first year, 20% of working time is allocated to education and development – with maintained salary.
