The Technical and Property Administration provides internal services so that our colleagues in other departments can focus on their core operations. We are responsible for the operation and development of public spaces, issue permits to enable municipal operations and local businesses to function, ensure children, students, and care recipients receive nutritious and well-balanced meals, and maintain municipal buildings in excellent condition and fit for purpose.

The technical operations consist of approximately 150 dedicated employees distributed across five units: parks, streets, projects, coast & green areas, and vehicles & internal services.

To the Streets Unit, we are now seeking an engaged, structured, and responsible Traffic Engineer specializing in traffic arrangement plans who wants to contribute to a safer traffic environment. We are looking for you who are proactive, self-motivated, and have strong collaboration skills with colleagues and clients.

Responsibilities

Mobility challenges are becoming increasingly important for Kalmar as population growth and vehicle ownership place greater demands on our transport system. Within our unit, traffic engineers work to ensure reliable and sustainable mobility for people and services in future Kalmar.

As a Traffic Engineer, you will primarily be responsible for processing traffic arrangement plans, conducting site inspections, and analyzing risks to optimize workplace safety. The unit has regulatory and supervisory authority in several traffic engineering areas besides traffic arrangement plans, such as parking, vehicle relocation, vegetation management, and land use permits.

Requirements

We are looking for you who thrive in a varied role with both operational and administrative responsibilities, and who have relevant education and/or experience within the field. A valid B-class driver's license is required.

You communicate clearly in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, and are comfortable using computers as a work tool. The role requires a strong commitment to traffic safety and the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation related to traffic engineering. Previous experience in a similar role within the public sector and certification in APV 2.2 are advantageous.
