Do you want to make a difference for people experiencing homelessness? Apply for the role of Guide with us!
BoCenter’s operations for men are now looking for two dedicated and competent guides for our emergency shelter on Fleminggatan in Kungsholmen.
BoCenter is a low-threshold service, which means we meet people where they are. There is a high tolerance for the fact that participants may be affected by alcohol or other substances and live with complex issues. This may, for example, involve mental health issues, difficulties with impulse control, or challenges in social interaction.
In the role of Guide, you provide participants with the opportunity to sleep, shower, do laundry, and eat. An important task is to build good relationships and support participants in achieving positive change. This work includes providing information about and linking to various forms of support and interventions that the participant is entitled to, as well as facilitating and motivating a good dialogue and collaboration with the professional network the participant needs.
Since a large part of the job involves offering support with basic needs, it is part of the Guide's duties to perform practical tasks such as operational laundry, deep cleaning of rooms, serving meals, handling belongings, and managing storage. At the emergency shelter, administrative tasks are also included, such as ensuring correct invoicing documentation and maintaining patient records in accordance with the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations on documentation in activities conducted under the Social Services Act (SoL).
Furthermore, you work to increase participant involvement in the operations and plan and carry out activities together with the participants.
Who are we looking for?
- Post-secondary education, e.g., treatment pedagogue, social pedagogue, or other post-secondary education deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Experience working with people experiencing homelessness who have active substance abuse and/or mental health issues.
- Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
Experience in service or work in vulnerable environments is an advantage.
To succeed in the role of Guide, you are calm, structured, service-oriented, and have good collaboration skills. You need to be resilient, clear, and have the ability to put yourself in others' situations. Naturally, you identify with the value base of the Stockholm City Mission.
