Unit Manager for Meals Department – Åre Municipality

About the Role

As Unit Manager, you are responsible for leading and developing the operations together with dedicated employees. You will have a varied role with responsibility for quality, working environment, economy, and operational development. The Meals Department is an important part of the municipality's operations. Every day, we are responsible for producing meals for children, students, and the elderly, with a focus on quality, sustainability, and good service.

Your Main Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire employees within the Meals Department.
• Be responsible for operations, quality, economy, and working environment.
• Ensure that meals meet high standards and follow current guidelines.
• Work actively with sustainability, food waste, and improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with schools, preschools, and other operations to create the best possible meal experience.

We are looking for you who are a secure and engaged leader with good collaboration skills. You build trusting relationships, create involvement, and have the ability to develop your employees. You work in a structured manner, see the big picture, and find solutions when the operations face new challenges. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities and your ability to lead and develop the operations.

You will become part of an engaged team where collaboration and development are a natural part of the work. As a new member of the role, you will receive support from an administrator and a fellow manager within the operational area. Together, we work to develop a meal operation characterized by quality, sustainability, and good treatment.

Qualifications

• Relevant education in nutrition and food hygiene.
• Experience in personnel management with responsibility for economy and quality assurance is meritorious, preferably from meal operations or other public sector activities.
• Ability to plan, follow up, and see the big picture.
• Good communication skills in Swedish, both oral and written.

Employment Terms

Employment Type: Permanent position.
Duration: Permanent, start date: 2026-10-05 As agreed.

The position is vacant subject to no surplus staff, need for reassignment, or priority rights existing within the municipality. Probationary period may apply.

We apply individual and differentiated salary setting. The position is covered by the current collective agreement for municipalities and regions.
