Part-time Driver for Passenger Transport at Järfälla Municipality

Järfälla Municipality is an expanding community where existing infrastructure is shared by more people while new infrastructure is being built. Järfälla is a dynamic municipality northwest of Stockholm, combining proximity to nature, the city, and water. In Barkarbystaden, a completely new, modern district is emerging with housing, retail, workplaces, and a new subway station that strengthens Järfälla's already good transport connections. Järfälla is a multifaceted suburb with a rich mix of cultures, residential areas, and leisure opportunities.

Today, approximately 320 people work at the Urban Planning Administration, acting on behalf of the Technical Committee, the Environmental and Building Permits Committee, and the Municipal Executive Board Administration. The important tasks of the Technical Department include both administration and technical support in an expanding municipality. Together, we are creating the Järfälla of the future – a place for everyone.

The Technical Department is a new department, which in turn is part of the Urban Planning Administration, which is just under a year old. Therefore, we are in the midst of change and seeking the best solutions.

Transport Service, which is part of the Technical Department, is a municipal unit that performs various transports for Järfälla Municipality. Our largest task is passenger transport.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a part-time driver with our Transport Service, you help cover staffing gaps due to illness and during the busiest hours of the day. The number of hours you work each day depends on the regular staff of drivers and the number of trips we have each day. The traffic control team schedules and books shifts in consultation with the driver.

A typical day might look like this:

Passenger transport and wheelchair transport

The day starts at the office between approx. 5:45-7:15.
Approx. 5:45-8:15: Drive school children to school.
Approx. 8:15-10:00: Drive older adults and pensioners to various day activities.
Approx. 10:00-14:15: We have fewer tasks, which may lead to a longer unpaid break.
Approx. 14:15-17:30: Drive all our various passengers home.
The days end at the office, usually between 16:30-18:00.

Other tasks that may occur include:

Food transport (We transport food carts between the municipality's various preparation kitchens and receiving kitchens)
Mail runs (We transport the municipality's internal mail between different units)
Moving jobs (We perform small moves for various municipal units)

You will work in a team of approximately 40 drivers, 3 traffic controllers, 2 traffic controller assistants, and 2 unit managers. The traffic controllers plan your schedule and your days. The traffic controller assistants focus more on daily operations. Everyone in the office is also available to help you with your daily work.

QUALIFICATIONS

To succeed in the role of Part-time Passenger Transport Driver, you must:

Hold a driver's license for at least 2 years.
Speak and write Swedish - Very good knowledge.
Have an interest in working with people.

Additionally, the following experience is meritorious:

Experience driving passenger transport.
Experience performing transport for wheelchair users and securing wheelchairs in special vehicles.
Experience working with people of different ages.
Experience working with people with disabilities.

Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: Permanent (but hired as part-time/seasonal coverage).
