Do you want to make a difference in your work and develop as a doctor?

Then we think you should apply for the position of Specialty Training Doctor (ST-läkare) at the Oncology Clinic!

The Oncology Clinic at the County Hospital in Östersund is responsible for oncological cancer treatment for the inhabitants of Jämtland and Härjedalen. We can provide almost all treatment on-site, but for certain treatments, such as radiotherapy, we collaborate with Norrlands University Hospital in Umeå and Sundsvall Hospital. Patients assessed at the clinic primarily belong to the surgical department. The most common diagnoses are breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, malignant melanoma, prostate cancer, and urinary tract cancer.

We have high competence among our staff, including nurses and assistant nurses, with both specialist-competent doctors and doctors in training. Oncology consultants from Umeå also visit regularly. We have a very well-functioning system with contact nurses. We collaborate closely with the palliative care unit for patients receiving palliative oncological treatment. The clinic also has a cancer rehabilitation team.

The Surgery Department has the status of a university healthcare unit, and teaching, supervision, and education of medical students at Umeå University are included as part of the position. We are positive towards and encourage clinical research, although it is not a requirement.

Östersund Hospital is the only one in our region and houses most of healthcare's specialties. Region Jämtland Härjedalen is one of the county's largest employers with approximately 4,200 employees. Together, we work to develop the region's healthcare. With us, you will have the opportunity to work in a role where you make a difference for both residents and tourists, in a region that offers activity and relaxation with close access to nature and mountains. If you are considering taking the step to move here, we can help you with housing.

Job Responsibilities

The work at the Oncology Clinic involves standard duties for a doctor. To ensure that Specialty Training Doctors achieve competence in necessary areas, a large part of the procedures takes place at Norrlands University Hospital. Specialty Training Doctors also participate in Umeå's internal ST training program.
