About the Department

The Orthopedic Department is divided into acute, elective, and geriatric sections. Within these sections, we work in cross-functional team constellations. We continuously engage in improvement work and conduct daily risk assessments of both the work environment and patient safety. This is done, among other things, through work with the Green Cross initiative.

The Acute Section cares for up to 16 patients aged 18 and older. Here, patients are treated for:

• Acute orthopedic injuries
• Orthopedic disease conditions
• Postoperative care needs
• Sometimes also cancer-related orthopedic conditions

Our operations are fast-paced and varied, characterized by close collaboration with various professions.

The Team

• Doctors
• Lead Nurse
• Nurse
• Aide (Healthcare Assistant)
• Occupational Therapist
• Physiotherapist
• Pharmacist
• Support Services

Together, we create safe and structured care and nursing for our patients.

Responsibilities

As an Aide (Healthcare Assistant) here, you play a central role in patient care and recovery. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Basic and advanced care for orthopedic patients
• Mobilization and support in rehabilitation in collaboration with physiotherapists
• Monitoring vital parameters such as pulse, blood pressure, saturation, respiratory rate, and temperature
• Blood sampling and other practical tasks within basic care
• Documentation in the medical record system according to current guidelines
• Preparation and care of patients before and after surgery
• Teamwork and communication with other professions to ensure safe and secure care

A typical morning might look like this:

• 06:45 - Short and clear handover: You get an overview of today's patients and their current status.
• 07:15 - Team Management: The team leader (responsible nurse) goes through the patients and distributes tasks.
• 09:00 - Pre-rounding Check: The whole team gathers to review patients, focusing on:
  • Patients who have deteriorated and need prioritization
  • Fasting patients prior to surgery
  • Risk of pressure ulcers or existing pressure ulcers
  • Input from physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and the lead nurse
• 12:00 - Lunch served to patients
• Etc.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are trained as an Aide (Healthcare Assistant) and thrive in an environment where structure, precision, and good communication are crucial.
