The Role of Foot Care Specialist

As a Foot Care Specialist, you will provide foot care and wound care for diabetic patients. This also involves observing, assessing, prioritizing, documenting, and reporting changes in the patient's foot status.

You participate in teamwork regarding the patient, and through dialogue with the patient and relatives, you provide support and guidance to enable optimal participation in care and treatment. The team consists of a diabetes physician, diabetes nurse, dietitian, and chiropodist. As a chiropodist, you also often collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and orthopedic technicians. It is an independent role where you have the opportunity to take significant personal responsibility, while working in a team with high competence across several other professions.

The Medicine and Geriatrics Clinic at Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö is a developing organization where we care for patients in need of specialized medical and geriatric care. Your Profile

You are trained as a nursing assistant and have completed a three-semester foot specialist education. It is also desirable that you have a few years of experience in the profession. You are calm and accommodating in your manner and collaborate well with other people. You should feel comfortable supervising students and speaking in front of groups.

We would appreciate it if you have good knowledge and experience regarding wounds and diabetes.
