An important part of the administration is the Traffic and Urban Environment Unit, where development is in focus. In recent years, we have implemented changes to clarify roles and responsibilities between Borlänge Municipality and Borlänge Energi. Today, Borlänge Energi is responsible, on behalf of the municipality, for operations, maintenance, and planning within the urban environment area.

On the unit, a dedicated team consisting of three traffic planners, three traffic engineers, and a landscape architect works. The Traffic and Urban Environment Unit is part of the Strategy and Property operations, which also includes municipal properties and the Land and Development Unit. Together with the other parts of the Urban Planning Administration, we contribute to shaping Borlänge's future.

Job Description

As a Traffic Engineer, you will have an important role in the work of developing Borlänge's traffic environment. You will work both strategically and operationally with issues that affect how people move around in the municipality, whether it concerns traffic safety, parking, speeds, pedestrian and bicycle traffic, or accessibility.

In the role, you process and investigate traffic cases and work with public authority functions within the traffic area. You are responsible, among other things, for local traffic regulations, permit cases, traffic legal issues, and various types of traffic investigations. You prepare decision support materials, write statements, and answer questions from citizens, companies, and authorities.

You function as an expert in the traffic area and contribute with knowledge and support both internally and externally. The work involves many contact points and close collaboration with colleagues within the municipality, Borlänge Energi, the Swedish Transport Administration, Region Dalarna, the business community, and other actors. You will also have dialogue with citizens and media in matters concerning traffic and the urban environment.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have post-secondary education in traffic engineering, urban planning, roads and traffic, or other education and experience that the employer assesses as equivalent. You have very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing, as well as good knowledge of English. A B-driver's license is required. You can be a recent graduate or have worked a few years in the field – the most important thing is that you have a great interest in traffic issues and a desire to develop in the role.

It is meritorious if you have gained experience of traffic regulations, traffic investigations, road design, or permit processing through work, internship, or thesis. We also view positively experience of public authority functions, public administration, or municipal operations. Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations within the traffic area is also meritorious.
