About the Position

Responsibilities

Are you our next team leader? We are looking for you who want to contribute to the management, development, and maintenance of Växjö Municipality's parks and green spaces. Here, anything is possible as we listen, collaborate, explore, create value, and improve the quality of life for our residents, businesses, and visitors.

The unit's staff consists of 27 permanent professional employees and approximately 10 seasonal workers, led by two team leaders. The unit is responsible for the operation and maintenance of detailed park and nature areas, as well as holiday decorations for public spaces throughout the municipality. The municipality's greenhouse for seasonal flowers is also under the unit's responsibility.

The task of managing the municipality's park and nature areas includes the operation and maintenance of:

  • Seasonal plantings
  • Fountains, benches, and fixed installations
  • Green area maintenance such as lawns, hedges, perennials, shrubs, etc.
  • Park and street trees, as well as park forests
  • Play and activity areas
  • Gravel areas and gravel paths

As a team leader, you are a key person in this important work. You plan, lead, and follow up on daily operations, develop, and drive the business towards set goals, and contribute to change management. You support the unit manager in all matters related to economy, working environment, and staffing, and play an active role in the development of quality and environmental work.

The job also includes developing the practical use of GIS and optimizing technical solutions. The team leader is responsible for preparing planning materials and invoicing internal customers for daily and long-term needs. You conduct ongoing follow-up and dialogue with contractors/subcontractors and participate in relevant tenders. The position is primarily administrative.

You will collaborate closely with other team leaders within the department to coordinate resources, develop operations, and enhance the team leader's role and function. Together with your work team and in collaboration with other team leaders, you contribute to a well-maintained, attractive, and safer municipality for everyone.

On-call duties may occur in the future.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have relevant experience or education, such as landscape engineer, higher education engineer, or gardener. You preferably have professional experience suitable for leading operations and personnel within parks, nature, property, or the external environment.

You preferably have previous leadership experience and are well-versed in personnel matters. You are practical but also possess strong administrative and technical skills, with an understanding of the modern digital environment and its possibilities, such as GIS. You are a good problem solver with a financial mindset, a strong sense of responsibility, and an interest in the assignment.

Your ability to be positive and energetic, combined with your teamwork skills, makes you a good candidate for this assignment. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We also expect you to have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and to be comfortable using a computer as a daily work tool.

Requirements: Class B Driver's License

Meritorious: Experience as a road marking coordinator
