Water is our most important food source, and Gotland's water supply is a crucial and current issue. The Water and Wastewater (VA) Department works with planning for the renewal and maintenance of our pipe networks, investigations, reconstructions, and maintenance of our waterworks, treatment plants, and water intakes.

The Water and Wastewater Department (VA) under the Technical and Community Planning Administration consists of six units and approximately 80 employees. The department is facing several large and interesting VA projects, such as the expansion of the VA system. The department's task is to supply our customers, the residents of Gotland, and visitors with the most important food source – high-quality drinking water. An equally important task is to treat wastewater so that the aquatic environment is protected. The department manages the pipe networks, waterworks, and wastewater treatment plants, as well as pumping stations and water reservoirs across Gotland.

The Maintenance Unit consists of five groups with foremen, totaling approximately 30 employees who work with facilities, new production, and maintenance.

Your responsibilities

As an operational foreman for our mechanical workshop, you are responsible for leading and distributing the work among four workshop technicians. In this role, you act as the central link between the work group and the unit manager.

Your responsibilities include assessing the scope of incoming jobs, with a particular focus on investigating prerequisites before startup, as well as planning and following up on repair work. You work with a result- and goal-oriented approach and also have delegated responsibility for occupational health and safety issues. The position includes administrative tasks such as invoice processing, purchasing, inventory management, maintenance planning, and quality follow-up. You are also responsible for communication with orderers from the department's various units, where you contribute suggestions regarding material selection and technical execution.

Currently, we are facing several exciting challenges in the development of our operations, and as a foreman in the Maintenance Unit, you will be involved in both short-term and long-term planning of water and wastewater operations. Occupational health and safety is a priority for us, which includes conducting daily risk analyses.

On-call duty may be included.

Who are you?

We see that you have post-secondary education or university education, or alternatively other education or experience that the employer considers equivalent. A Category B driver's license is required. It is an advantage if you have a BE, C, or both licenses. Knowledge of reading technical drawings is an advantage.

We are looking for you who have experience working in a supervisory position with technical experience in operations/maintenance, project knowledge, VA/Plumbing knowledge, and welding experience in stainless steel.

You have good knowledge of economics, are accustomed to working with computer support, and master the programs in the Office package.

You have a good ability to plan, lead, and organize, and to see the big picture. Since the job involves many contacts, it is important that you are good at collaborating and enjoy working with other people.

As a person, you are social and outgoing, solution-focused, able to think outside the box for new solutions, structured, and have the ability to inspire and energize the work group. To thrive in the role, customer focus and business acumen are crucial, and it is important that you can communicate both externally and internally.
