As an Action Coordinator at the Mälaren Water Protection Association, you will play a central role in the work for a better water environment. Here you lead and coordinate initiatives, drive projects forward, and collaborate with engaged stakeholders to protect and improve the Mälaren ecosystem. Job Responsibilities

We are looking for an Action Coordinator for the Mälaren Water Protection Association who will coordinate, develop, and drive the work on measures against eutrophication, as well as other environmental issues within the Mälaren catchment area. Part of the role involves working with concrete measures at various locations within the Mälaren catchment area, primarily on agricultural and forestry land. This entails contact with landowners, support, and assistance in the practical implementation of the measures. Examples include help with assessing suitable measures, project planning, hiring contractors, assisting with the design of implementation, and project reporting. Another part of the role is to coordinate other Action Coordinators around Lake Mälaren. In several places around Lake Mälaren, there are now Action Coordinators linked to water councils or municipalities. Your role will be to drive this coordination network together with our other Action Coordinator and maintain contacts with the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, the Swedish Board of Agriculture, and other authorities and organizations on behalf of the network.

The work includes:

• Mapping needs and proposals regarding measures against eutrophication within the Mälaren catchment area in broad terms.
• Prioritizing measures together with Action Coordinators and water councils.
• Initiating implementation. This may include, if necessary, making cost estimates, seeking funding, procuring contractors, and keeping the work together.

There are also significant problems with environmental toxins and migration barriers in many watercourses. Where possible, measures against eutrophication should be planned and implemented in a way that also improves these environmental aspects. The opportunity to design measures that contribute to climate adaptation is also a piece of the puzzle. Another task is to work on knowledge building regarding how measures are best implemented and financed. The knowledge and experiences from our work are intended to be used to drive the process forward with measure proposals and implementation in other watercourses in the Mälaren catchment area. You will have great opportunities to shape your work within the set frameworks. The work is independent and involves both office work and field work, as well as collaboration and dialogue with landowners, farmers, and other stakeholders, largely in the Sagån catchment area, but also around the entire Lake Mälaren.

Qualifications

• University education in environment/biology/nature or similar, preferably with a focus on restoration and water or hydrology.
• Category B driver's license.

It is meritorious to have knowledge in GIS and experience of:

• Work with water protection measures, restoration, climate adaptation, or advice to agriculture related to eutrophication, e.g., within Greppa näringen.
• Project management and coordination.
• Procurement of contractors for water-related measures.
• Applying for project funding.
