Company Description
AFRY offers services within engineering, design, digitalization, and consulting. We are dedicated experts within industry, energy, and infrastructure, creating value for future generations. AFRY has a global reach with deep roots in the Nordic region. Together, we accelerate the transition to a more sustainable society.
Job Description
Within the Business Area Infrastructure and the Water Market's Northern Region, we work broadly across the entire water and wastewater (VA) sector, ranging from early-stage studies and investigations to detailed design, inspections, and training.
Due to climate change, urbanization, and increased demands for robust societal infrastructure, the water and wastewater industry faces significant and complex challenges. Changed precipitation patterns, heavy rainfall, drought, and increased demands on drinking water safety place new requirements on how we plan, build, and manage future water and wastewater systems.
In this role, you contribute to shaping sustainable and resilient solutions for future water and wastewater supply through strategic and technical investigations, such as water and wastewater plans, renewal plans, system analyses, feasibility studies, as well as the development of water strategies, tariffs, and legal issues. The work often takes place in early stages where we conduct status and needs assessments that form the basis for strategic choices. It also includes coordinating inputs, decision-making processes, investigations, and cost calculations with a focus on climate adaptation and sustainable resource use.
The projects you participate in are adapted to your experience and interests and can have both technical, economic, and legal characteristics. The role involves collaboration with colleagues locally, regionally, and nationally, as well as working with a broad customer base within the private, municipal, and public sectors. You will have the opportunity to drive projects, contribute to innovation, and be an active part in the development of a more sustainable and climate-adapted water sector.
You will be based at one of our offices in Norrbotten, Västerbotten, Jämtland, Västernorrland, Dalarna, or Gävleborg. Please specify your desired location in your application.
Qualifications
You are a curious, driven, and engaged person with an interest in technology and societal issues within the water and wastewater sector. You thrive in a dynamic environment and find it easy to collaborate and communicate with both colleagues and customers.
You have relevant education (e.g., engineer) or equivalent experience from the water and wastewater industry, urban planning, consulting, or public sector operations. You have several years of experience working with investigations within the water and wastewater sector. Experience in leading projects with responsibility for planning, execution, economy, and customer dialogue is meritorious.
It is meritorious if you are well-versed in regulations, technology, and system perspectives within the water and wastewater sector. Experience in working with a holistic approach to a municipality's water supply, as well as leading work processes and contributing to the preparation of inputs for strategic decisions within the water sector, is also seen as a plus.
As a person, you are analytical, business-minded, and have a holistic perspective. You are self-initiating, flexible, and comfortable with building relationships and holding dialogues with decision-makers.
At AFRY, we place great emphasis on your personal qualities and work based on our values: Brave – Devoted – Team players.
