As a Mask Artist at Culture House Spira in Jönköping, you will become part of a creative team that shapes productions within theater, music, and dance. As a Mask Artist, you handle the actors' makeup, hair, and wigs before, during, and after performances. The workday may consist of both day and evening work as well as weekend work, depending on the performance schedule. You will also take on assignments as a Mask Designer, responsible for several productions from pre-production to the final performance. This involves planning, cost estimation, and production of the mask expression in close collaboration with the artistic team and the other studios in the house.
You will become an important part of the mask and wig department, consisting of three people, and share responsibility for the maintenance of mask and wig materials as well as the ongoing departmental work. The department is characterized by cross-boundary collaboration and a good atmosphere.
The position is a permanent full-time employment with a start date of December 1st or as agreed. Usually, a six-month probationary period follows.
Culture House Spira presents a varied offering of music, theater, musicals, and dance for children, young people, and adults in Jönköping County every year. Our operations include Jönköping Symphony Orchestra and a permanent acting ensemble, along with our studios for scenery, masks, costumes, props, and accessories. We are looking for you who want to help develop the operations so that more children, young people, and adults in Jönköping County get the opportunity to enjoy cultural experiences that inspire and engage. Approximately 500 events are held annually in the form of self-produced performances, guest performances, collaborations with the county's independent cultural practitioners, as well as rentals and conferences. Our mandate is regional, and part of the operations takes place on tour in the county. Approximately 30 percent of the operations are specifically aimed at children and young people through Young Spira. Culture House Spira is part of Jönköping County Region and is part of the units within Regional Development. The operations have an annual turnover of approx. 132 million SEK and have around 100 employees.
We are looking for you who want to be part of a professional performing arts house with a wide range of music, theater, and dance. We want you to have a three-year education in Mask Artist, Mask and Wig Design, or at least four years of documented professional experience in the field. Good computer skills and a B-driving license are meritorious.
You are a creative and skilled craftsman with good knowledge of materials. As a person, you are structured and have a good ability to work both independently and in a team. You are flexible, have a holistic perspective within your area of work, and look to the best interest of the production and the theater when making your priorities. You are secure and stable in your professional role. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
