Your Role

In the role of Captain, you have overall responsibility for the vessel, operations, and crew. Through clear and present leadership, you ensure a safe and efficient operation in accordance with current regulations and internal guidelines.

Leadership is central to us; you create engagement, involvement, and a secure working environment where every employee knows their role and contributes to the whole.

The position involves periods of high tempo and requires you to make quick and well-founded decisions.

Swedish is our safety language, which means you need to master Swedish fluently in both speech and writing.

• Are a secure and clear leader who inspires trust and has the ability to make well-founded decisions, even under pressured or challenging conditions.
• Hold valid qualifications and certificates for the role of Captain.
• Have documented experience from a similar position.
• Have a strong safety focus and work proactively with risk assessment, compliance, and continuous improvements within safety.
• See environmental and sustainability issues as a natural part of the position.
• Are structured, responsible, and have good ability to plan, prioritize, and follow up on operations.
• Have very good communication skills and can express yourself clearly and pedagogically in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
• Are proactive and solution-oriented and thrive in a role where you have overall responsibility.
• Have a professional and inclusive leadership style that creates engagement and a good collaborative culture.

The position is a permanent employment. We are covered by a collective agreement with SBF.

At Destination Gotland, we are responsible for one of Sweden's most important routes – the sea route between Gotland and the mainland. Our high-speed ferries create opportunities for both passengers and freight traffic to travel efficiently between Gotland and the mainland, on the routes Visby – Nynäshamn or Visby – Oskarshamn.

We have operated the Gotland traffic since 1998 and are proud of the trust. Formally, the assignment is from the Swedish Transport Administration, but in many ways, the assignment is also from the Gotlandic society. We see it as our task to contribute to Gotland's development by always going ahead and creating opportunities for everyone who wants to travel to and from our island.
