What does Scenkonst Öst offer you?

Scenkonst Öst is formed by Östgötateatern together with Ung Scen Öst, Östgötamusiken, and the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra. The company was established in 2016 and creates performing arts with both breadth and excellence, and the activities are available to everyone in Östergötland. The organization also includes an operational support department comprising divisions for communication, HR, IT, finance, and property. The values of courage, respect, and participation form the company's common foundation and approach. The operations employ approximately 240 staff members, with an equal or greater number on fixed-term contracts. The annual turnover is approximately 265 million SEK, and the owners are Region Östergötland, Norrköping Municipality, and Linköping Municipality.

Östgötateatern is the country's largest regional theatre. Our vision is to be the boldest and most exciting theatre stage in the country. Here, large-scale musicals coexist with innovative performing arts and experimental expressions, always with high artistic ambition.

What does the role involve?

As a mask artist (maskör) with us, you will become an important part of the production's artistic core. You help shape the visual expression by creating and developing mask designs in close collaboration with the artistic team.

The role encompasses everything from the manufacturing of masks, wigs, and loose parts to working as a show mask artist, where you contribute to ensuring that every performance maintains the highest quality.

You share responsibility for the purchase and maintenance of materials and equipment for the wig and mask department. The work is varied and takes place during both day and evening hours, requiring you to thrive working both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues within the mask department and other parts of the organization.

The candidate we are looking for

We are looking for you who have a 3-year university-level mask artist education or equivalent work experience that the employer deems comparable. We expect you to have documented experience working with masks for theatre or film.

You must be able to perform all common tasks in the wig and mask department, such as wig making, stage makeup, and hairstyling. You should have good skills in styling wigs and natural hair in various styles and historical periods.

It is important that you can work both independently and in a team, are flexible, and handle stress well.
