Do you enjoy practical outdoor work where you see the results of your efforts every day? We are currently seeking a Property Caretaker with a focus on outdoor environments for schools and preschools in Gävle Municipality. This role is perfect for someone who values responsibility, physical activity in daily life, and work where safety and order are central.
About the Position
This is a full-time consulting assignment starting immediately and lasting until the end of October. You will be employed by Bravura and work as a consultant for Gävle Municipality.
🚀 About the Company
Gävle Municipality is one of the region's largest employers, with over 8,000 employees across a wide range of socially vital operations. Here, you work on what makes everyday life function – from schools, preschools, and care services to urban environments, culture, and infrastructure. The municipality's mission is long-term and affects many people's daily lives, placing high demands on quality, collaboration, and accountability.
Their value system is built on quality, customer service, and collaboration, with a focus on creating safe and sustainable environments for residents and operations. In this role, you will be part of the practical work to keep schools and preschools safe, clean, and well-maintained – an important part of creating secure environments for children and staff.
💼 Responsibilities
In this role, you will handle ongoing property maintenance in outdoor environments, primarily at schools and preschools. You are responsible for your own sites and work from a weekly schedule with planned work orders. The work takes place almost exclusively outdoors and involves a high degree of personal responsibility, while maintaining close contact with supervisors and colleagues when needed.
Normally, you will be responsible for approximately 6–9 addresses located relatively close to each other. Travel between sites occurs during the workday, and a service vehicle is available. The work is largely independent, but for heavier or more complex tasks, you will work together with colleagues. The work involves ensuring that outdoor environments are safe, clean, and well-maintained for children, staff, and visitors. In addition to planned weekly maintenance, you will also handle fault reports that may involve simple repairs or actions in the outdoor environment. Support or external resources are available for more advanced tasks.
Examples of responsibilities:
Inspection of schoolyards, playground equipment, gates, fences, and hedges
Weed removal, litter picking, and emptying of trash cans
Mowing and general maintenance of green areas
Simple repairs and actions following fault reports
Ensuring that outdoor environments are safe, clean, and functional
🔍 Education, Experience, and Personal Attributes
Requirements:
Class B Driver's License
Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
Good physical fitness as the work is physically demanding
Merits:
Experience or knowledge in green area maintenance
Brush cutter training
Familiarity with machinery and tools related to outdoor environments and green areas
General plant knowledge
Wheel loader license
There is no requirement for formal education in gardening or similar fields – your practical ability and attitude towards the work are the most important factors.
To thrive in this role, you need to be self-reliant and comfortable with planning and taking responsibility for your own work. You have a service-oriented approach and understand the importance of ensuring the environments you manage are safe and well-maintained. At the same time, you are willing to collaborate with colleagues when the work requires it and find it easy to follow instructions and communicate regarding tasks and deviations.
