About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating existing ones, and expanding our operations. We are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transport.

Job Description

As a prison officer, you will be part of a team with daily contact with clients.

Working in a remand prison involves a focus on care and security and is a job with clear routines. Some people are held in remand for a long time and only meet their lawyer and the staff at the remand prison. This places special demands on you as a prison officer.

Working as a prison officer means you can make a difference for other people and contribute to a better society. To enjoy and succeed in your assignment, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values regarding a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and the belief that people are capable of development.

Qualifications

We place great emphasis on your personal suitability. You are secure, stable, have good self-insight, good judgment, and integrity. You enjoy working with others and communicate clearly. You can also act physically when required. You share our belief that people can develop and change.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Work experience
• Ability to express yourself well orally and in writing in Swedish
• Good computer skills

It is also an advantage if you:

• Have work experience from the prison service, security work, service work, psychiatry, or care and nursing work
• Speak several languages

Certain positions are classified in a security class, in which case a security clearance with a registry check will be carried out before a decision on employment is made.
