Department of Learning and Research Support

Working at the Department of Learning and Research Support at Uppsala University Library means operating at the intersection of academic life, pedagogical development, and strategic support for researchers and students.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a pedagogically oriented librarian who wishes to contribute to developing Uppsala University Library's learning support for students, doctoral candidates, and researchers. In our work, we maintain many internal and external contacts with partners and users. We meet people from diverse backgrounds with varying needs and prerequisites, working with a high degree of professionalism. The work to achieve common goals, improvements, and development of the operations is carried out with great enthusiasm.

Together with your colleagues, you will:

• Teach and mentor students, doctoral candidates, and researchers in information retrieval, source criticism, reference management, and digital tools, with the goal of providing qualitative support for learning and research.
• Collaborate with subject-specific teachers and library colleagues to implement, evaluate, and improve our pedagogical methods.
• Be part of the library's information service team, which means you will work outwardly and provide support and service to the university library's users at our information desks.

Other customary tasks within a university library's operations are also part of the assignment.

Qualification Requirements

• An academic degree in Library and Information Science.
• Very good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
• Current experience of teaching or pedagogical work at a library.

We place great importance on personal suitability. You have very good teamwork skills and are relationship-building. You are curious about digital solutions and find it easy to learn new systems. The work requires engagement and a willingness to learn, as well as the ability to speak well-formulated and engagingly in individual meetings and in groups. You have a clear user focus and a sense of service.

Desirable/Additional Merits

• Experience as a teaching librarian at a university or college library.

About the Employment

The employment is fixed-term until 2027-02-21. The scope is 100%. Start date according to agreement. Location: Uppsala.
