Job Responsibilities

In the role of Environmental Specialist, you will handle and coordinate all types of environmental issues. You will support the project manager and guide the project organization to ensure that Trafikverket sets correct and relevant environmental requirements, contributes to environmental and health goals, and ensures good environmental adaptation. You will do this by identifying and assessing environmental aspects in projects and following the environmental work through all project phases, from early planning to the construction phase.

Your responsibilities will include, for example:

• Ensuring the preparation of documentation for notifications and permit applications within the environmental sector. To some extent, you may also be required to write applications/notifications yourself.
• Supporting and collaborating with other environmental specialists in the Norrbotniabanan program regarding environmental assessments and permit management.
• Participating in the procurement of consultants and contractors, as well as performing acceptance checks on their deliveries.
• Attending meetings, collaborating, and maintaining contacts with project management, colleagues, other specialists, consultants, contractors, and authorities.

You will become part of a national environmental unit with approximately 150 environmental specialists within the Investment business area at the Technology and Environment department. This offers you great opportunities for collaboration and support from other environmental specialists, as well as professional development and knowledge exchange within the organization – which we see as a major strength.

This position will be staffed for the Norrbotniabanan program.

Qualifications

Who are you?

As a person, you have the ability to independently structure your way of working and drive your processes forward. You convey messages clearly and pedagogically, adapting your communication to the recipient. Since the work involves many contact points both internally and outside Trafikverket, the role requires a good ability to collaborate with your surroundings. Furthermore, you have good problem-solving skills and view challenges and solutions from a holistic perspective.

We are looking for someone who

• has a university or college degree of at least 180 ECTS credits (120 Swedish credits) in natural sciences or civil engineering, or alternatively another academic education combined with work experience in the environmental field that we consider equivalent
• has several years of current and relevant work experience related to the Environmental Code, for example work with environmental impact assessments, environmental investigations, environmental control, and follow-up
• has current experience of working with several different types of environmental assessments
• holds a valid driver's license for passenger cars
• has good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written

It is an advantage if you

• have current experience of working with environmental issues in infrastructure projects
• have current experience of coordinating environmental issues
