About the Department
Laboratory Medicine Dalarna (LmD) is an accredited, region-wide operation comprising Clinical Chemistry (CC), Clinical Transfusion Medicine (TM), and Clinical Microbiology (MB). Our goal is to provide medical laboratory services with high quality and high patient safety. The operation is permeated by a risk-based approach where patient safety is always the focus.
Departments for clinical chemistry and transfusion medicine are located at the county hospitals in Falun, Mora, Ludvika, Borlänge, and Avesta. The Clinical Microbiology department is located only in Falun.
Our team includes Medical Laboratory Scientists, Laboratory Assistants, Biomedical Scientists, Molecular Biologists, Biomedical Engineers, Laboratory Technicians, Laboratory Aides, Senior Physicians, and Residents. We work closely together to maintain quality and safety. The operation runs during the day, evenings, and weekends.
Our goal is to ensure a high-quality laboratory operation by implementing and further developing analytical methods, maintaining patient safety, and contributing to efficient healthcare. We are an accredited operation with high quality requirements and work cross-professionally and innovatively.

Job Responsibilities
The role involves responsibility for planning, coordination, control, and development within the bacteriology and serology process in collaboration with process owners, process managers, and physicians. The work includes:
- Participation in the development of new analytical methods.
- Participation in working groups for the procurement of new equipment, as well as responsibility for the validation and verification of new analytical methods and instruments.
- Creation and updating of instructions and forms.
- Participation in training activities within laboratory technology for relevant processes.
- Mentoring of students, physicians, and other healthcare personnel.
- Critical review, assessment, and use of relevant information, as well as discussion of new facts and questions to contribute to the development of the operation.
- Monitoring of external developments within relevant areas.
Main Tasks
- Annual compilations and evaluations of controls, participation in procurement processes, as well as verification and validation processes.
- Participation in inspections and follow-ups to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
Future Challenges and Development Needs
- Ensure the implementation of new analytical methods and instruments in line with technical development.
- Adapt the operation to new regulations and quality standards.
- Further develop training initiatives.
- Strengthen collaboration between different units to optimize workflows and resource utilization.
External and Internal Interfaces
- Internal collaboration with process owners, process managers, physicians, medical laboratory scientists, and other healthcare personnel.
- External contact with suppliers of laboratory equipment and reagents.
- Collaboration with universities and research institutions.
- Participation in inspections and consultations with supervisory authorities.
The goal of the position is to contribute to a high-quality, efficient, and development-oriented laboratory operation by ensuring the implementation of new methods, participating in procurements, optimizing work processes, and promoting continuous competence development.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent academic education with a Master's degree.
- Good knowledge of Swedish, spoken and written.
- Laboratory experience.
- Experience working with microbiological techniques such as culturing, immunology, and serology.
- Ability to analyze data.
Merits:
- PhD in clinical microbiology or a scientific area deemed relevant by the employer.

- Independence and Discipline: Ability to drive projects, plan, and handle challenges without constant guidance is a natural part of the position.
