The Heart Center in Umeå aims to provide the best cardiac care in Northern Sweden. We offer highly specialized cardiac care and have overall responsibility for patients in the northern region. The Heart Center includes the Cardiology Clinic, Thoracic Surgery, Cardiology, PCI Lab, Arrhythmia Unit, as well as Clinical Physiology and the Center for Cardiovascular Genetics. Together, we diagnose, treat, and operate on patients with diseases of the heart, blood vessels, and lungs.
Through cross-border collaboration, effective care chains, continuous improvement work, and competent staff, we offer care of very high quality. In close collaboration with the university, we conduct research, development, and education.
Thoracic Intermediate Care Unit
The Thoracic Intermediate Care Unit has 6 beds and is organizationally linked to the Thoracic Intensive Care Unit, which also has 6 beds. Together, we employ approximately 90 staff members. Annually, we care for and treat over 1,000 patients who have undergone heart, vascular, and lung surgery. We also treat patients suffering from severe heart and lung failure. The care is high-tech, and patients are monitored circulatory and respiratory-wise via ECG, blood pressure, saturation, and arterial lines.

Job Responsibilities
As a nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and engagement that makes people feel safe.
At Thoracic Intermediate Care, you are responsible for the postoperative care of patients who have undergone thoracic surgery, as well as patients suffering from failure primarily in the heart and lungs. As a nurse, you are responsible for one to four patients. You work in a patient-centered manner, both independently and in multidisciplinary teams in close proximity to the patient.
As a new employee, you will receive a personalized introduction. You are offered regular internal training, and we encourage you to actively participate in the unit's development work. We offer a varied and challenging job where you have the opportunity to learn new things every day, always with the patient in focus.
Qualifications
We are looking for a licensed nurse, preferably with experience in hospital care.
You have good collaboration skills, can work in a team, but also have the ability to work independently. You actively contribute to a good work environment and have good prioritization skills. You are curious, structured, flexible, and enjoy taking responsibility. We place great importance on personal qualities.
