NWT is seeking a Breaking News Reporter (Temporary position with possibility of extension)

NWT leads the news in Värmland, and we are looking for someone who loves the news pulse and the hunt for the hottest stories. Take the chance to work with us this summer and into the early autumn, with the possibility of extension.

About Erna Media

NWT is one of Sweden's largest (digital + print) newspapers outside of Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Scania. NWT is the flagship title of Erna Media, one of Sweden's leading media houses with 15 different titles delivering local journalism via websites, apps, and print products.

The company's vision is to safeguard democracy and freedom of speech through journalism that engages, surprises, and informs.

Erna Media is part of Erna Gruppen, which has a clear growth strategy for the coming years. In addition to local journalism, the group operates in marketing, distribution, and property management. We are present in Värmland, Skaraborg, and Dalsland.

About the Role

The news hunt is the foundation of all journalism at NWT. Our editorial team leads the news in Värmland, and our goal is to always be first with the latest. As a breaking news reporter with us, every day is a new match to win. The coverage area is Värmland, and the topics are diverse: accidents, fires, weather chaos, entertainment profiles, political decisions, and more.

The target audience is clear: we want to attract Värmland residents under 40 to read our journalism. As a breaking news reporter, you enjoy the mix of fast-paced news reporting and sharp follow-ups. You are comfortable with live reporting, for example, from student balls. You will also have the opportunity to regularly produce in-depth journalism.

You will work closely with colleagues on the breaking news desk, our news desk, and other colleagues. On the editorial team, you will join over 40 skilled and friendly colleagues. Slightly fewer during certain summer weeks. The schedule includes shifts in the morning, evening, and weekends.

About You

You are an established journalist who loves the news race – and is passionate about winning it every day.

You have a strong interest in society and good judgment. You are well-suited to deliver news to a younger target audience. You have strong self-drive, but you also enjoy bouncing ideas off colleagues and managers.

You know digital journalism but are eager to continue developing your skills.

You enjoy packaging and presenting your work digitally and promoting it via our social media channels.

You know how to find and deliver news on TikTok or Instagram. You know how to make a story top our list of most-read articles. You must have a driver's license.

Additional Information

If you have questions, you can contact NWT's Administrative Editor-in-Chief Kasper Norling, [email protected], or Editor-in-Chief Helena Ingman Lindström, [email protected].

Union contacts are Marie Blomgren, [email protected], or Lisa Olaison, [email protected].

The position is a temporary assignment (start as soon as possible) located at NWT's headquarters in Karlstad.

Appointment will be made immediately or as soon as possible, preferably during May. Interviews will be held on an ongoing basis.

Due to the urgent need to solve the staffing puzzle before summer, we need your application immediately, but no later than April 12, 2026.
