WE ARE LOOKING FOR TRAINED MUSICAL ARTISTS AND OPERA SINGERS

Wermland Opera is producing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel with an estimated premiere on September 23, 2027. Carousel is a classic American musical from 1945, created by composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II.

WHERE AND WHEN

Auditions will take place at Bageriet, Näbbgatan 9 in Karlstad on April 26–27, 2026.

April 28 is the callback day.

HOW

The auditions on April 26–27 will consist solely of singing auditions. During the callback on April 28, applicants will work with material from the production as well as a dance audition.

SINGING REQUIREMENTS FOR AUDITION

All applicants should prepare a song of their choice from the “Golden Age” era before 1960, for example: Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Loewe, Irving Berlin, Frank Loesser, Jule Styne. No rock/pop.

You may also be asked to sing excerpts from Carousel:

• Mr Snow (Carrie)
• If I Loved You / Soliloquy (Billy)
• If I Loved You / What’s the Use of Wond’rin’ (Julie)
• You’ll Never Walk Alone, June is Bustin’ (Nettie)
• Mr Snow (reprise) / When the Children Are Asleep (Enoch)

On April 16, after a first selection, invitations will be sent to those we wish to see at the audition.

If you do not receive an invitation, you are not being considered for this musical.

Applicants should be available for employment tentatively from July 1 to December 31, 2027.
