Description
The Environmental and Health Protection Administration develops society and has a broad mandate including strategic planning, permits, and supervision. The administration acts as a local supervisory authority for activities covered by the Environmental Code, the Food Act, and other legislation. Approximately 50 employees work at the administration, divided into four units: environmental protection, health protection, food, and administration.
Job Description
We are seeking an Environmental and Health Inspector to handle cases within food control. Do you want to work to protect consumer health and contribute to safe food? We are now looking for an engaged inspector who wants to help develop food control together with us. As an inspector, you will have a varied daily routine where you inspect food businesses registered in the municipality, such as grocery stores, restaurants, municipal operations, and food manufacturers. Our mission is to ensure that these operations comply with food legislation requirements and produce safe food. If we find deficiencies, we, as an authority, impose requirements to ensure they are rectified. We also handle complaints regarding food handling, investigate suspected food poisoning, and examine suspected food fraud. The job includes answering questions from the public and providing advice to business operators.
An important part of the role is to actively participate in and collaborate within the food group to create consensus in assessments and contribute to joint competence development. By working as an inspector, you help build a safe and sustainable society by ensuring safe food and maintaining public trust in the food chain.
An Environmental and Health Inspector interacts with business operators subject to supervision and staff at other municipal administrations. A service-oriented approach is a given for you, and you find it easy to adapt your communication based on the recipient's needs. You are skilled at creating and maintaining professional relationships, are attentive, and treat both entrepreneurs and colleagues with respect and engagement.
The workplace is centrally located in Jönköping. Most decisions are made by the inspector on delegation from the Environmental and Health Protection Board. The work involves complex assessments and occasional meetings with business operators that can be challenging.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree in Food Agronomy, Environmental and Health Inspection, Food Engineering, or Dietetics, with good knowledge of food legislation. Alternatively, you may have another relevant higher education degree that we consider equivalent.
You must have excellent knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and express yourself clearly and professionally in both dialogue and written decisions. We assume you are accustomed to working digitally and have good computer skills.
A B-class driver's license is a requirement for the position.
