Your new job

You will be responsible for providing care and support. This is based on a rehabilitation approach which means that the resident should be activated as much as possible in their care to enhance or maintain their functional ability. You will administer medication under the delegation of a nurse, carry out certain rehabilitation measures under the delegation of an occupational therapist/physiotherapist, and report ongoing activities verbally and in writing to the unit manager/nurse and colleagues.

You will also be the contact person for a number of residents, which means you have a special supervisory responsibility for the resident(s) you are assigned to. The role of contact person further entails working with the citizen to create an implementation plan to provide individually tailored care and support as much as possible. The contact person should also ensure that the resident retains a high degree of independence. Otherwise, the contact person's tasks may vary and be adapted according to the citizen's needs.

The majority of the work involves direct care and support for the residents. This work includes individualized assistance in all areas necessary for the resident to have as rich and normal a life as possible. For example, hygiene, dressing, ordering food, serving food, setting the table, washing dishes, laundry, ironing, requisitioning supplies, administering medication, going for walks, accompanying to, e.g., the dentist, or conversing with the residents, etc. In all these areas, the residents should be activated as much as possible to enhance or maintain their functional ability. The position also includes providing care and support at the end of life and palliative care. The work also involves various forms of reporting and documentation.

Your qualifications

We are primarily looking for someone who is a trained care assistant. Experienced nursing assistants may also be considered. It is an advantage if you have experience in care and support work/elderly care and work in a dementia unit, as well as good knowledge of the operational system Combine.

Taking initiative, collaborating well with others, and being responsible for your tasks is a given. You should also be attentive and have the ability to understand others' perspectives or situations. Being able to plan and organize your work effectively is also important. We also value if you are confident and stable, have self-awareness, and can adapt to different situations. Since the job involves contacts with tenants, relatives, and colleagues, as well as documentation, you should have a very good command of the Swedish language in spoken, reading, and writing.

Welcome to us

Solstickegatan Elderly Home is located in Bäckalyckan and is easily accessible by bus. The elderly home has 80 apartments intended for people with dementia and is one of Jönköping's largest elderly homes. We at Solstickegatan want to create a pleasant environment and atmosphere through our work, where our residents can maintain a good quality of life. In total, more than 100 employees now work in the entire building. We care about each other and our working environment, we have good cooperation, and of course, the well-being of our residents is always in focus.

Good to know

The recruitment concerns 4 positions. Both permanent positions and fixed-term contracts may be relevant. We are looking for care assistants/nursing assistants for our dementia units. Start date by agreement. Working hours are scheduled for day and evening shifts both weekdays and weekends. Jönköping Municipality strives for full-time as the norm and always offers a 100% employment rate.

As of July 1, 2023, the title of care assistant will be a protected professional title. This means that a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare will be required to use the title of care assistant in healthcare and social services.
