Company Description
AFRY offers services in engineering, design, digitalization, and consulting. We are dedicated experts in industry, energy, and infrastructure, creating value for future generations. AFRY has Nordic roots with a global reach. Our shared principles – Result driven, Client centric, Empowering, and Accountable – guide us in how we work, develop, and succeed together. Join us in accelerating the transition to a sustainable society.
Job Description
At AFRY Hydro, we currently have 120 employees who together drive the development of hydropower – from dams and dam safety to geotechnics, hydromechanics, hydraulics, environment, and power stations. We work on both national and international projects and are in an exciting and expansive phase as a growing Nordic player. Our projects vary in size and scope, from investigations and feasibility studies to design and support during implementation and operation.
In the role of technical manager in turbine technology with us, you will work at the forefront of technology. You will work on projects where you perform calculations, reviews, and progress tracking, as well as preparing and reviewing reports. The calculations may be in areas such as rotor dynamics/flow/transient/fatigue/strength calculations.
If you have previously worked with the design of mechanical and hydraulic systems, you will also be an important resource regarding follow-up and review. In addition, we also see that you will have project management responsibility, which means managing both national and international resources.
You will become part of an engaged team consisting of project managers, construction managers, investigators/designers, and specialists. We have close collaboration within the team and with other colleagues in Hydro, and together we drive socially important projects in hydropower where we are at the forefront in feasibility studies and concept studies of pump power. Our size, collective expertise, and interdisciplinary approach allow us to offer solutions with a breadth and quality that is unique in the industry.
Projects are generally driven from the office or home office, and travel is a natural part of the job. Since we operate throughout the Nordic region, the project group is largely led remotely.
Qualifications
We place great emphasis on your personal qualities and your willingness to develop with us. To succeed and thrive in the role of turbine specialist with us, we see that you are responsible and have a good ability to structure, plan, and drive multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. You act proactively and on your own initiative to move forward as efficiently as possible. Equally important for the role is that you enjoy collaborating and having many points of contact internally and externally. You are attentive and willingly share knowledge and ideas to find win-win solutions.
Furthermore, we see that you have experience in the hydropower industry where you have worked with renewal or reinvestment projects, as well as a master's degree in engineering and good knowledge of Swedish.
It is advantageous if you have experience in:
- Performing calculations (rotor dynamics/flow/transient/fatigue/strength calculations)
- Working with tools such as Ansys, Simsen, and/or Mathcad or equivalent
- Designing mechanical and hydraulic systems
- International projects
- Pump power projects
- Project management
In this recruitment process, we use tests as a step in identifying your potential, that is, how well you match the parts of the requirement profile that concern personal qualities and problem-solving ability. The tests also help us ensure a more accurate and fair recruitment process.
Since our services may operate in security-classified areas, drug testing and security clearance may be required before employment can begin. For all recruitments at AFRY, an ID check, reference taking, and verification of education are always conducted as a basis before employment.
