Wermland Opera provides the people of Värmland and visitors with a wide selection of opera, musical, and orchestral productions of high artistic quality. Every year, we stage two major opera and musical productions, a number of smaller productions, and conduct touring activities. Our operations are located in Bageriet at Tullholmen and in Karlstad Theatre, which is situated in central Karlstad.

As a tailor at Wermland Opera, you are part of the costume workshop that belongs to the technical department. Within the costume workshop, there is also a costume master.

Job Responsibilities

As a tailor, you will work on the sewing and completion of costumes for all of the theatre's productions. You will primarily work with men's costumes, but women's costumes may also occur. You are responsible for the entire chain from pattern construction and cutting to conducting fittings. The work is done in close collaboration with the costume designer, as well as with other departments in the theatre. Together with the costume master, you ensure that the costumes maintain their quality and expression throughout the performance period. Other tasks include costume maintenance and keeping the workshop and costume storage organized.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with tailoring education and proficiency in men's tailoring. You have a journeyman's certificate in men's tailoring or have developed equivalent skills through several years of experience in the tailoring profession. You have good knowledge of theatrical sewing and textile materials. We prefer that you have experience in similar work within theatre or performing arts production. Experience in women's tailoring and making headgear is an advantage.

The work requires a good ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English. Since the job involves some travel between our workplaces, you need to have a B driver's license.

A six-month probationary period may apply.
