The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand, and client transport.

The Umeå operational area includes the closed prison Umeå, the open prison Sörbyn, and the remand facility Umeå. We are undergoing extensive capacity increases, and there is much happening in the operational area in terms of renovations and new constructions. The largest professional group is prison officers, but we also have healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, etc. At the Sörbyn prison, inmates are engaged in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work in kitchens, carpentry, plant cultivation, textiles, etc. The Sörbyn prison is an agricultural prison with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. At the Umeå prison, inmates are engaged in wood/industry, kitchens, learning centers, and treatment programs. The Umeå prison and remand facility are about a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, and the Sörbyn prison can only be reached by car. Staff parking is available at all units.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a production leader, you will have direct contact with our clients in the prison's production. In your daily contact with the inmates, your work will contribute to the clients' learning and also to the clients reflecting on their situation.

After an introduction, you as a production leader will be responsible for the daily operations. You will plan, allocate tasks, and ensure that our deliveries are made on time. You will also participate in the production work yourself. Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for production planning.

The work as a production leader varies depending on the area you work in. In agriculture, you will be responsible for guiding inmates in their daily work. The tasks include plant cultivation, maintenance of cultivation areas, sanitation, harvesting, and production and handling of feed. In the workshop, the primary tasks are repair and maintenance of agricultural machinery.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has self-awareness. You find it easy to collaborate with others and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. You have the ability to make correct assessments and priorities. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages based on the recipient's conditions. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires it.

Requirements:

• Complete upper secondary school qualifications in the form of a final grade or upper secondary diploma, or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
• Driver's license (B)
• Work experience in agriculture

We consider it meritorious if you have:

• Work experience from a supervisory role
• Work experience in prison service, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work
• Relevant language skills
• Certification for weed control
• Experience working with crop planning
• Experience working in a workshop
