Production Leader for Summer Temporary Position at Sörbyn Prison

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and adding to our operations, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transportation.

The Umeå operational area includes the closed prison Umeå, the open prison Sörbyn, and the detention center Umeå. We are undergoing significant capacity increases, and a lot is happening in the operational area both in terms of renovations and new constructions. The largest professional group is prison officers, but we also have healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, etc. At Sörbyn Prison, inmates are engaged in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work in kitchens, carpentry, crop production, textiles, etc. Sörbyn Prison is an agricultural prison with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. At Umeå Prison, inmates are engaged in wood/industry, kitchens, learning centers, and treatment programs. The prison and detention center Umeå are about a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, and Sörbyn Prison is only accessible by car. Staff parking is available at all units.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a production leader, you will have direct contact with our clients in the prison's production. In your daily interactions with the inmates, your work will contribute to their learning and also encourage them to reflect on their situation.

After an introduction, you as a production leader will be responsible for the daily operations. You will plan, allocate tasks, and ensure that our deliveries occur on time. You will also participate in the production work yourself. Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for production planning.

The role of production leader varies depending on the area you work in. In the barn, you will work alongside our inmates and be responsible for the animals and milking. In the outdoor team/agriculture, you will guide inmates in outdoor work or in agricultural activities. In carpentry, you will guide clients in wood processing, assembly, and surface treatment. In the workshop, the primary tasks are repair and maintenance of agricultural machinery.

The summer period covers weeks 24-35. Before the summer period begins, you will need to undergo an introduction. The introduction will be tailored to individuals, and we offer two different start dates, weeks 21 and 22.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and self-aware. You find it easy to collaborate with others and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. You have the ability to make correct assessments and priorities. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages based on the recipient's conditions. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires.

You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Requirements:

• Complete upper secondary school qualifications in the form of final grades or a high school diploma
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
• Driver's license B

We consider it an advantage if you have:

• Experience in leadership
• Work experience in correctional services, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social services
• Relevant language skills
• Experience working in agriculture, barns, workshops, and/or carpentry
