Description

We are looking for an engaged employee for the Nature Unit who wants to work to preserve and develop Blekinge's biological diversity together with us. In this way, you will become part of the unit's developing and exciting nature conservation work.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will coordinate the County Administrative Board's work to prevent the spread and combat invasive species (IAS). The tasks include inventory, planning, and development of control measures as well as procurement of actions. The role also includes collaboration with national authorities, other county administrative boards, municipalities, landowners, and private individuals who have questions or problems related to IAS.

Information and advice are an important part of the work. You may also give lectures and contribute to spreading knowledge, with the goal of encouraging more actors to work preventively and participate in combating invasive species.

The work mainly focuses on the EU-listed species present in the county, such as yellow skunk cabbage, giant balsam, giant hogweed, and Japanese knotweed. It also includes other nationally designated species that are problematic and can cause serious damage to our ecosystems.

The role also includes other tasks within the unit's area of activity. You will also work with action programs for endangered species, environmental monitoring, and processing of nature conservation grants.

All our assignments include administration, follow-up, and reporting of both the results of the operations and financial contributions, including reporting to our clients. We expect you to actively work with us to identify new opportunities for project funding to develop the operations.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • University/college education in natural sciences (e.g., biology, ecology, environmental science) or equivalent education?
  • Experience working with nature conservation and biological diversity
  • Experience handling complex issues related to nature and the environment
  • Driver's license (B)

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience working with inventory and control of IAS
  • Experience in project management and driving processes
  • Experience working with action programs for endangered species

Personal Qualities

Your personal qualities are important as the role largely involves dialogue, coordination, and collaboration. You are a good communicator who expresses yourself well in speech and writing, enjoys keeping complex assignments together, and is good at building positive relationships both internally and externally.

As a person, you are proactive and self-driven. You strategically advance the work based on analysis of needs and opportunities. You have good administrative skills, are results-oriented, and can make well-founded priorities even when circumstances change.

The role requires you to be flexible and enjoy the variation between office work and practical tasks. Since the work sometimes involves inventory and actions in the field, you need to be able to move freely in forests and terrain.

Conditions

To ensure quality and streamline the recruitment process, we use an electronic application form in collaboration with Varbi for all job openings. Please fill out your application as carefully and accurately as possible to provide a fair representation of yourself.

The County Administrative Board is a government authority, which means that the information you provide to us may be disclosed under the principle of public access to information. Normally, there is no confidentiality for the information processed in the database. If you have protected personal information, please contact the contact person specified in the advertisement.

A permanent position at the County Administrative Board means that you will be placed in a war position at the authority.

Some of our positions are security classified, which means that a security review will be conducted before employment, in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).

Before recruitment, we have decided on advertising channels, therefore all offers of advertising and recruitment assistance in connection with this advertisement are declined.

We know that diversity enriches and are looking for someone who can complement our work group and the County Administrative Board as a whole with your skills, experience, and personality. Welcome with your application!
