The Cemetery Administration in the Southeast Jämtland parish manages 33 cemeteries and burial sites. In addition, we have three closed burial sites that are included in the administration. Our cemeteries hold our shared cultural heritage with many ties back in time.

The staff of the Cemetery Administration consists of 30 full-time sextons, a large number of seasonal cemetery workers, three supervisors, two administrators, and one cemetery manager.

The operations are governed by the parish church council with a cemetery committee.

The central area consists of the congregations of Brunflo, Lockne, Marieby, and Näs, Revsund-Sundsjö-Bodsjö congregation, and Bräcke-Nyhem congregation with a total of 11 cemeteries/burial sites.

Job Responsibilities

Some of the most common tasks at the cemetery/burial site and our other areas include planting and caring for plants, watering, weeding, hedge trimming, tree pruning, trimming, lawn mowing, and leaf collection. Some property maintenance may occur.

Work with smaller loaders, hot water pressure washing, and other gardening equipment may also occur for those who have the necessary qualifications and training for this.

In your work at the cemetery, you will meet visitors daily who may need everything from practical help, guidance on cemetery-related questions, to a listening ear. You will be the face of the cemetery administration at the cemetery, and being able to meet visitors with dignity and empathy is seen as fundamental prerequisites for the job.

You will work both independently and together with other cemetery workers and sextons. You will see the bigger picture and help others when needed. We use modern tools, but the work is physically demanding. Heavy lifting occurs. We work outdoors regardless of the weather.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has gardening education or has acquired equivalent knowledge through work experience from, for example, cemeteries, gardens/parks, and landscaping work. We place great importance on personal suitability and the ability to collaborate with others.

To be considered for the position, good social skills and a positive attitude towards both colleagues and visitors to the cemetery are required. You need to be service-oriented, adaptable to the various tasks to be performed, and have good physical fitness and condition. Familiarity with and qualifications for the equipment used in gardening and landscaping, as well as a B driver's license, are advantageous.

You must be at least 18 years old at the start date of employment and have good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.
