About the position
The Acute Care Department (AVA) is undergoing a transformation where we have received a clearer mandate within highly specialized emergency care. Here, we provide care for patients with acute deterioration of vital functions or unclear conditions requiring investigation, stabilization, increased supervision, monitoring, and treatment. This may involve starting Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV), High-Flow, taking blood gases, telemetry monitoring, NEWS 2 with closer intervals. The patient's condition should be potentially reversible or treatable, and the average length of stay is about 1.5 days. We can also care for patients with tracheostomy and EDA. Common admission causes can include arrhythmia, PE, intoxication, COPD, sepsis, neutropenic fever, electrolyte disturbances, smoke injuries, among others.
We work in two teams, with each team consisting of a nurse and a nursing assistant responsible for four patients.
We work in three shifts according to a desired schedule with day shifts from 07:00 to 15:30, evening shifts from 13:00 to 21:00, and night shifts from 20:30 to 07:15.
At AVA, we have a lead nurse who directs and allocates work during the day and evening, as well as from 08:30 to 17:00 on weekends.
The position contributes to our 24/7 operation by working two weekend shifts per month.
We are looking for someone who
- Has knowledge of the mission of emergency care.
- Is confident in their professional role.
- Is positively driven with a genuine interest in providing patient- and person-centered care. It is important for us that you see the patient and their relatives as an obvious participant in the team.
- You also have good collaboration skills, are unpretentious, humble, and confident in yourself so that you ask for help from your team when you need it.
- Are engaged in the development of AVA and take initiative to drive improvement work.
- Stays updated by accessing available information and guidelines. We wish for you to actively seek new knowledge and be able to apply it in practice to drive the development of the organization forward.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Licensed nurse
- At least one year of clinical experience or a Specialist Nurse degree in a relevant area for the position, as well as real and formal competence according to at least competence level step 1 according to the Stockholm Region's competence ladder for specialist nurses
