Environmental Technician at Gräfsåsen Waste Facility

The Waste Facilities unit within the Technical Administration of Östersund Municipality operates and develops the Gräfsåsen waste facility and the recycling centers in Odenskog, Brunflo, and Lit. The unit also monitors the status of several landfills and soil tips around the municipality where operations have previously ceased.

Your New Job

As an environmental technician, you will be responsible for the operational work at the Gräfsåsen waste facility alongside your colleagues. Gräfsåsen receives waste from municipalities and businesses throughout the county. At the facility, waste reception, sorting, interim storage, pre-treatment, and treatment take place. You will play a role in the various material flows of the waste facility and participate in the operational management of the facility. Together, we are responsible for ensuring that the facility meets the conditions related to its permits and that current legislation is followed. The role involves many points of contact and the operations are conducted in close cooperation with other parts of the municipality, supervisory authorities, contracted entrepreneurs, and our customers.

Common Tasks

• Reception, control, transshipment, pre-treatment, and treatment of all incoming waste.
• Construction and maintenance of all hardened surfaces and planning of landfills.
• Short- and long-term planning of all tasks at the facility.
• If applicable, operation of gas stations.
• Maintenance and daily control of the machinery.
• Daily monitoring of the facility's functions based on current permits and the municipality's work with environment, work environment, quality, and safety.
• If applicable, water sampling and operation of pump stations.
• Actively participate and stay updated on safety work.
• Reporting deviations.
• Be involved in investigations.
• Participate in the training deemed necessary by the employer to perform the job.
• Supervise interns and seasonal employees.

Your Competence

Requirements

• Driver's license B and operator's certificate for wheel loaders and excavators.
• Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
• Good computer skills as the job will involve some administrative tasks such as weighing operations.

Desirable

• Service, welding, and repair of vehicles and equipment.
• Experience working at a waste facility.
