Do you want to play a central role in strengthening trust in one of Sweden's most important public actors? As a senior press communicator, you will contribute to developing and protecting SJ's brand through strategic press work, professional media management, and proactive PR efforts that make a difference for both travelers and society at large. Your upcoming role  As a press communicator at SJ, you will work in a strategically driving and operationally present role. You will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing SJ's external communication, focusing on strengthening trust in SJ and ensuring cohesive and relevant communication across all channels.

In close collaboration with colleagues in Communication and other parts of the organization, you will contribute to ensuring that SJ can act clearly, correctly, and transparently in a dynamic environment. The role is central to our work with proactive PR efforts, media management, and community communication.

Your main responsibilities

• Drive SJ's proactive media work through PR planning, editorial content, and tactical pitching of news.

• Act independently as a spokesperson and manage complex and time-sensitive media situations with good judgment.

• Ensure professional and coordinated handling of media inquiries – from analysis and message formulation to coordinating responses.

• Drive and shape opinion articles, press previews, events, and content for SJ's news room and social channels.

• Participate in publishing duties as well as in SJ's crisis and disaster preparedness and provide strategic advice to managers and operations regarding communication efforts.

As a press communicator, you will be part of the Communication unit, which works integratively with both internal and external communication. The function consists of multifunctional roles with expertise in press, internal communication, advocacy, digital channels, and editorial work. The team is characterized by high flexibility, close collaboration, and the ability to jointly handle both planned and unexpected communication needs.

Expectations for the candidate we seek We are looking for someone with strong strategic judgment, excellent communication skills, and solid experience in handling complex media situations. You are confident in the role of spokesperson and accustomed to working in an organization where communication needs to be accurate, coordinated, and trust-building.

You are analytical, independent, and composed under pressure, with the ability to create clarity and structure even in complex contexts.

Education  We are looking for someone with a relevant post-secondary degree in communication, journalism, or another relevant field. Additionally, if you have training or courses in media management, crisis communication, or strategic communication, it is a plus.

We would like you to have:

• several years of documented experience in advanced media management – both proactive and reactive

• experience acting as a spokesperson and participating in journalistic contexts, including live broadcasts

• the ability to formulate clear and impactful messages as well as provide strategic advice to managers and operations

• documented experience leading communication initiatives, projects, and PR activities

• very good relationships with the media and the ability to build and maintain trusting collaborations.
