Unit Manager for Medicine at the Swedish National Board of Recruitment and Assessment in Umeå

The Swedish National Board of Recruitment and Assessment is establishing itself in Umeå! Would you like to be part of it from the beginning? We are now looking for a unit manager for medicine who wants to help start our new testing office in Umeå.

The Umeå office will open in the autumn of 2026 and will be centrally located in newly renovated premises next to the Ume River.

At the testing units, senior physicians, psychologists, nurses, and administrators work together with our case handlers. In total, we will be about 60 colleagues in Umeå working together to achieve our goals.

Responsibilities

As a unit manager with us, you will lead the unit forward and ensure that the operations deliver according to set goals. You will have responsibility for the work environment as well as budget and personnel responsibility for about 20 employees when the operations are fully established.

As a unit manager for medicine, your closest colleagues will be nurses and physicians whose task is to conduct assessments and evaluations for selection into training and employment within the Armed Forces and with other clients.

Your responsibilities include working with implementation, planning, and follow-up at both group and individual levels. You will also ensure that the unit is adequately staffed to carry out assignments and you will be responsible for the employees' professional development together with the expert functions.

This is a close-to-employee role where you collaborate with expert functions in medicine and psychology as well as other professions, managers within the unit, and the department to achieve set goals. You will be part of the management team for the Umeå testing unit and report to the head of testing production in the unit.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone

  • with a higher education or university degree or equivalent experience acquired in another way that the employer deems relevant.
  • with at least a few years of leadership experience with personnel and budget responsibility.

It is an advantage to have

  • an education in health and medical care
  • leadership experience with personnel responsibility in health and medical care
  • experience working with improvements related to results, quality, and/or efficiency
  • experience working in Excel

Your personal qualities

You have the ability to act confidently and steadily when required and can adapt your behavior to the situation. You have good collaboration skills and can relate to people in a responsive and smooth manner. You possess pedagogical insight and understand people's different circumstances. It is also important to communicate clearly.

In your leadership, you have the ability to create participation and engagement where you motivate and coordinate the group. Therefore, it is important that you can work clearly towards goals and focus on achieving results. You can also see and understand the bigger picture and have a structured approach to your work.

We offer you a permanent full-time position that may start with a probationary period.

Due to the nature of the operations, you cannot work from home, but we hope that this can contribute to a clearer division between work and leisure.
